    Switching Feed

My ducks have always been fed Scratch And Peck. But DH didn't feel like spending $30 this month on duck food so we bought Nutrena Organic Layer Crumble. The ducks don't seem happy with me for this. Ha. Just wanted to see if anyone else uses this for their ducks?

    Cayuga vs Black Runner

I can jump in on a hatchery order with someone local. I am planning to grab a single black duckling for my son as a gift. He loves ducks and Star Wars so it will be "Duck Vader." Which breed would be best? We will also be raising Anconas. I won't be allowing cross breeding... so will probably...

    Ducks In Chicken Coop

Can ducks be taught to climb up a raised chicken coop ramp? If they won't, what do you do about it?

    Humidity help

The humidty in my Little Giant was at 34% with one little bowl of water. So I added a second bowl... and now it says 27%. Um... what? Am I doing something wrong with my thermometer/hygrometer? Or is the humidity just that low with more water... even here in wet Washington?

    First time hatching ducklings (Anconas)

I have my dozen eggs. Incubator arrives today. Does anyone have any tips? I've read everything I can, obviously, but I like to get some "must know" advice from real people before getting started.

    Duck Housing...

Can I use a raised chicken coop with attached run for ducks? Obviously they'll be hatched and brooded indoors (laundry room) but my bff found a free chicken coop online that looks like a GREAT deal. I plan to free range but love the idea of the attached run so they can be "out" when I'm at...

    Egg Incubator HT 48

Does anyone have this incubator? It says it has a 95% hatch rate. Someone offered to sell me one for $90 and I'm hoping to use it to hatch some ducklings. But I don't want to spend that kind of money on something that isn't great, kwim? It's local pick up, no shipping. So probably not a bad deal...

    Would you...?

Would you sneak a few ducks and meat rabbits onto your rental property if it had a no pet policy? Or would you try really hard to convince the landlord that outdoor livestock is not a risk to the home and to let you have them?

After The Turn (Rules and Applications)

《Storyline》 It is the not too distant future. A couple generations back a disease ripped through the human population, killing billions. In order to stop its progress and save the race, supernaturals came out of hiding. Everyone had adjusted to the new way of life. Science and modern amenities...

    Did you name it?

Did you name your backyard farm or homestead? Why or why not? What name did you choose and why? And anything else you'd like to share (pictures, what animals you raise, if you grow anything... etc)

    How big is your flock?

We have a family of 5. I'd like to make enough eggs for us (we go through about 5-6 dozen eggs a month) and to sell some if I can. How many ducks do you have? How many eggs does that get you?

    Husband has doubts?

Since we are in the process of finding a new place and plan to move south next year... he's not sure I should take on the commitment right now. Is he right? Should I wait? Or do you know some good arguments I can present FOR raising some right now? I can't see any problem with just moving them...

    Share your wisdom

I'm just getting started. Tell me everything I need to know. Must haves and favorite items. I am probably moving into an apartment soon so I'm going to be doing indoor/back patio ducks. I haven't decided on a breed but I'm thinking Anconas (because they are beautiful), Golden 300 Hybrids or...

    Hi there

New here. I don't own anything yet but I've been planning on raising rabbits for meat and ducks for eggs. We'll probably be moving into an apartment soon though so I'm not entirely sure how we're going to make that work.
