I would like to know what others think. What have you experienced to be the best egg laying chickens in terms of egg production per year.
Secondly what about the largest egg layers?
I eventually would like to dwindle down my breeds to the two best egg layers I can...
OK so at the moment I have 33 chickens...
21 of them are of egg laying age but are still under 1 year old. I get an average of 16 eggs a day from the 21 chickens.
Is this about right?
Is this ok to do with a chicken that doesn't lay anymore or is not a good layer anymore...say a 2-3 yr old chicken?
Would it be good in a Chicken Stew??

I have read that chickens can eat between 1/4 and 1/3 a lb of feed per day.... hmmm seems to be a lot.... thoughts on that??
Secondly.... How do you longtime chicken rasiers feed your chickens if you don't just free roam them in the garden..? Do you feed a few cans of feed once a day twice...
For now I have the big 5 gallon waterer with the base.. When I do the new coops and run there will be a small stream /slash pond area for the ducks with an autofill. Do you think that would be good enough for all the chickens to drink out of also?
