Tractor Supply birds - What are they?

Looking for some help on identifying my hens. I want to say they were advertised as brown leghorns, but I really can't remember. We got them 2/26/25, when they were a day old, from Tractor Supply in upper middle Tennessee. They are now 5 1/2 months old and appear to be a mix. Facts: As chicks...

    What breed?

This little girl decided to move into my friend’s horse barn. She has a body like a leghorn, with black tail feathers that go straight up. But based on the pics I’ve seen, she doesn’t look like a brown leghorn. Perhaps it’s just because she is still young? The dark neck feathers are...

won't eat; can't stand, plus I found mites

This will be long, but I want to give history and answer all questions I might create... 28 month old Isa Brown, total of 10 in flock, all bought at the same time one year ago; bought from a guy who said the chickens came from the Amish in IN or IL; doubt they were ever vaccinated or wormed...

dead hen - blood in nest box

Hi Everyone. I just found my best layer (Cheddar) dead in the yard. My first thought was that my dog killed her (which would be a first. She'll occasionally chase one, but has never attacked them). There were a few downy feathers lying around Cheddar as though she was attacked. I examined...

Avian Pox - is this a death sentence?

Yesterday I noticed my Isa Brown, Ruffles' right eye is completely swollen shut. Then, I found she has small, raised black spots on her comb. At first look, I thought they were small ticks attached to her. Looks like she has Avian Pox from what I've read and that there is no cure. I didn't see...

No Eggs for about a week now - Nashville TN

Got my 6 ISA Brown pullets about a month ago. They had all supposedly been laying for about 3 months when I got them. I got one egg the 3rd day after getting them. Since then, I have gotten 1 or 2 eggs a day, and on one occasion I got 3 eggs. For about a week, I've gotten no eggs. Some...

    Scaley leg mites

Thanks to those who suggested the petroleum jelly on Lady Bug's legs for the ugly scaley lumps. Today will be the 3rd treatment and already some of that stuff has fallen off. I see a great improvement. It must be the leg mites and smothering them is working. Yea!!! Thanks, Coach P.

New to this site - and new to chickens

Hi, Coach P. here. I love this site, and bought my first chickens based on reviews and opinions posted here. I now have 6 Isa Brown hens. They were all supposed to be pullets, but now that I've had them for a couple of weeks, it's obvious some are older and some are younger, based on their body...
