One of my hens, haven't determined who, is laying a thin shelled egg. there's been at least four or five. Everyone else's shells are fine. Wondering if it can be related to two of them getting their tail feathers ripped out by a dog coming onto the property. They are making new feathers.
A few of my hens just started laying within the last couple weeks. Today I found this big oblong egg with what looks like a smear of blood on it. Is she ok? Pic is of the size of all rest of the eggs in comparison.
I lost my first chicken. The flock free ranges all day and then they put themselves to bed in the evening and I go shut the door to the coop. I guess in the busyness of the day I forgot to shut the door last night. When I went to let them out this morning I was shocked to find them in the yard...
I was supposed to have all females so I have been denying that this could indeed be a male for sometime now. I need confirmation from people more experienced, this is my first flock. These are two of my 13 week old EEs. One very male looking one not so much. Thanks. [/IMG]ht/400[/IMG]
Hi I'm pretty new to chickens, I have a flock of 12 week olds 8 barred rock and 7 EE hens, hopefully. I have learned a lot from reading here and thought I should join. Currently trying to determine if one is a roo.
