A few of my hens just started laying within the last couple weeks. Today I found this big oblong egg with what looks like a smear of blood on it. Is she ok? Pic is of the size of all rest of the eggs in comparison. [IMG]

Yeah it happens, especially with new layers or hens that have resumed laying after a molt break. I always check the hens vent to make sure she is not actively bleeding, but have never seen it to be a problem. Just a burst blood vessel on the way out.
