A 1939 Makomb brooder/grower. Needs new droppings pens and a heating element for conversion to electrical but grates and gates are all there. Gonna prime and paint over rust tomorrow.

This pullet hatched from eggs that were supposedly SFH. She doesn't appear to me to be the typical Mille Fleur patter and her right leg has some light feathering. I think she's ugly as sin in terms of type. Her head is not attractive to me and she does have some remnants of fowl pox on her...
I've ordered two dozen Lamona eggs and will be putting them in the incubator soon. I have a Brinsea so I am hoping for a good hatch rate.
I am every excited to have this opportunity.
Will there be a demand for the chicks?
Hatched over the past week.
Mottled Java
Red Leghorn
Maline
Ameracauna
Silkie
White Crested Black Polish
Chocolate Orpington
Gold-Laced Brahma
Ameracauna
Egyptian Fayoumi
Apparently a "new creation" by MyPetChicken.com, I've ordered some eggs and will have them in the incubator as soon as they arrive. I'll keep this post updated with photos, etc.

Running a Bielefelder rooster on some Black Sex Link hens. What will the chicks look like? Autosexing? I think that the laying traits would be fantastic but just curious what might come of this.
I have several hens but all are of different breeds. I have everything but Isbars to Hamburgs to Leghorns to Orpingtons. I recently purchased a Svart Hona rooster. Will the fibromelanistic genes pass on to the offspring of these combinations? What will my chicks look like? I also run a...
I've got 96 eggs going in the incubator. There are 1 dozen Black Warhorse American Gamefowl eggs in there. Will they need to be separated from my other chicks or can they be raised together? I assume the cockerels will begin fighting each other quickly.
Hatched some Altsteirer and Swedish Flower hen eggs. Terrible hatch rate with the shipped eggs and I have two live chicks. I think I have one of each. Thoughts? It's my fault for not marking the eggs properly.

I'm going to be covering my hens with a Bielefelder rooster. What will my chicks out of my Red-Laced White Cornish look like? Will they be similar in conformation to Cornish Crosses?
I am keeping two roosters for my flock, a Bielefelder and a Coronation Sussex. What colors will these guys throw on an assorted flock? My hens are as follows:
Altsteirer
Ancona
Ayam Cemani
Bielefelders
Black Minorca
Black Penedesenca
Blue Isbar
Blue Marans
Buff Minorca
Buff Orpington...
Appears to be in good health. Almost completely feathered and his head feathers are finally coming in. Has trouble keeping balance and always seems to be crouching. Doesn't seem to be in any sort of poor health otherwise.... eating and drinking fine. Vitamin deficiency? He's been this way...
My flock is for egg production. I keep 20 hens and sell eggs to a few locals stores. I'd like to keep egg production high with my future chicks but also have a bird that will give me a nice carcass at the end of her productive life.
My options:
American Bresse (White)
Bielefelder
Coronation...
I need some help identifying sex of a certain chick I have. It's the white leghorn with the obviously red comb. These birds hatched February 3rd and are growing quite nicely. They are all supposed to be pullets aside from the two Cuckoo Maran cockerels and, so far, that appears to be correct...
My hatch was Thursday but there are still eight eggs in my incubator. I'm kind of upset because there are several of a few rare breeds remaining. They haven't pipped yet and it's now been four days. How much longer should I leave them?
