We just sent 10 Red Rangers to freezer camp at 10 weeks. No health problems like the Cornish X but, not impressed by size or white meat.
All in all, I will just stick with my extra Salmon Faverolles roosters for eating birds. They take a bit longer, but are not smelly and stupid :)
I added 3 Khaki Campbell hens to my order of chicks. Everybody came on Wed.
I've never had ducks before so had read all the threads about how much personality they had and how entertaining.
First day in the brooder it was like their legs had minds of their own. They would be eating or...
Went by the Big R off Baptist Road in Colorado Springs today.
They are doing buy 1 get 1 free on their geese (had lots of ducks, chicks and turkeys too).
Think the price for 1 goose was 9 something.
After a few years I am back (that's why I'm an Old New).
Had laying hens, but when we moved a few years ago, did not have the time to get a secure coop ready for them. They were given away to a very happy home. Their last chicken had died from old age - so a great place to be a chicken...

I can drive them in to Woodland Park (or almost anywhere else in Teller Co).
Thanks,
Called Cackle this am. My chicks are on their way. Should be at the PO in the morning.
We've already talked to the ladies at the post office and even the guy who drives the mail truck up the mountain (think they'll be riding up front with him ). Seems like everybody now has our phone...
Hello to all,
I've been reading alot on this site and decided it was time to "step-up" and join.
My grandfather raised chickens (loved as a 4 year old "helping" him collect the eggs) and my family raised chickens for meat as I was growing up. I was better help at that point, but didn't want...
