So in a few days I'm going to go get a few more chicks. It's from a local store and it's "assorted wyondottes", how can I tell what kind they are at a few days old?
I know for sure I want a golden laced wyandotte, and a blue laced red. And are mille fluers also in the assortment?
Is 5 roosters too many for 24 hens? We have about a 1/4 of an acre that they roam during the day, a fenced area at night that's 18ft by 11ft and about 12 ft high. And 2 coops inside that locked up area.
I am getting ready to purchase some meat birds. We have a few red broilers, but I was wanting to try a veriety. Is a cornish game hen just a regular cornish butchered early? And also between broilers and cornish, which are more cost effective? Are they they same size at butchering?
How many bags of feed should you go through weekly with 2 hens, 15 chicks, 1 duck and 10 ducklings? Our chicks and ducklings are 6 weeks. We have about 1/6 of an acre that they get to graze on from 8am unail 7-9pm.
PS the ducks ate all my lettuce in the garden.
I bought 2 one year old chickens 2 weeks ago. They keep using the hen boxes as a bathroom. I have 4 boxes and they pooh in them all. I have put balls in them to try and stop it. Nothing seems to work. And no eggs yet
I bought 2 one year old chickens from a lady about 10 days ago. One is a Barnevelder and the other is a brahma/Barnevelder mix. They are not laying. They use their hen boxes as a bathroom. Yesterday I put balls in them in an effort to detour this behavior. This morning they only pooped in one...
I bought these from a lady who said they are a month old. They are smaller than my 4 week runner. Some look all black, some have striping by their eyes, some look gray, some look brown, some are black with white spots. Maybe they are a few different groups of hatchlings. She also gave me what...
my husband bought 2 RIR at feed store. The have chipmuch stripes. I went back next day to feed store and bought another RIR, it looks nothing like these first 2. Over the last few weeks the first 2 seem like they havent grown. They are tiny compared to all my other chicks the same age. At the...

We purchased 2 ducks at a feed store in a bin marked assorted ducks. The yellow one was the biggest, and the silver one was really small. Now the silver one is bigger and heavy. They are 3 weeks
