Girls just recently started laying (about26wks), I think there are three hens that appear to be ready but can't be certain all three are laying. In the last 15 days we've got 16 eggs plus, ?? this, Is this a fart (LOL) egg? middle bottom, soft as can be.....

Is there a way to determine if the hen will be a darker color? I know it's silly but I have 5 6 week babies. I can only keep one and hubby wanted a darker color hen. Since I bought them on his request I was trying to find out if I could better determine which would grow up more the color he...
At first I thought maybe it was ALLLLL the raisins the girls eat. I stopped for several days, hubby even noticed which hen was making the poop. No raisins for 2 days and this is from sometime since last night. She seem in fine health nothing visible and she is perky and alert. (Dk Brahma, 3 1/2...

I need to pick your brains......
I need an auto door opener. Anyone have any great solutions that won't break me? I can tinker and put something together if I just knew what I needed.
Right now I have a wood door opens left to right.
Chick arrived at 2 days old. Bought a pullet and was suppose to be an Ameraucana. I've been corrected and told here she wasn't an Ameraucana but an EE. She also seems to hold herself as a rooster. Chick will be 7 weeks old this Tuesday, Sept. 15th. Is it just me? Hen or Rooster or can you...
The girls ( well I have high hopes they're girls) turned 4 weeks old yesterday and on that birthday they've managed to start flying to the top edge of the box. :D I knew it was coming but it still surprises me how fast they grow.
Very newbie here. Ordered 9 pullets from Ideal Poultry picked them up about 2 weeks ago. All babies doing well! I won't be able to keep all of them so I have someone ready to take all I won't be able to keep. I live in a subdivision and also can't have roosters. :(
Here are a few snapshots of...
