Is there any data that points to chickens having different nutritional content i.e more or less fat/vitamins/dark meat etc? Do different chicken breeds have different tastes or makeup or is it down to what you feed em or free ranging? This is out of curiosity as I was looking into raising...
I have a large outside aviary with four canaries in it, one male and three females, one of my canaries has stared to lay eggs and sit on them, and my question is when the chicks hatch is there any special food I should feed the mother etc?

I was just wondering, we are getting some chickens and ducks, the fox ate our last lot, and I was wondering, what is the better floor material for a chicken run, this is not a mobile run it is staying in the same place, I was thinking wood chips or grass, any ideas?

I'm a new member, so I'm sorry if I've done something wrong. Anyway, does anyone know if rats can be harmful to chickens or ducks, we are going to start a new flock after all of ours were eaten by a fox, :( and there are rats in the area. Can a rat hurt a full grown chicken or not...
