    Help with crippled, lonely chicken

I have a chicken who injured herself trying to get away from my dog. Since then, she will not use one of her legs, and frankly, I can’t afford to get her x-rayed to find out why, but she gets around just fine. She was out with the rest of the flock a few days ago, and was brutally attacked by...

Chicken was weird swelling on her underside, need advice

My 1 year old Cream Legbar has a large area about 2 inches below her vent and 2 inch diameter that is swollen, pushed out and the skin is kind of yellowish - reminds me of what a fever blister looks like only much larger. It’s very soft to the touch. I’m thinking it’s a badly infected feather...

Does anyone know where I can find chicks or hatching eggs of this breed? They sound awesome - why are they so hard to find?

    Piebald goose - sexually ambiguous?

I have a beautiful 6 month old piebald gander. He is one of my largest birds, has a long neck, and can make an ear-splitting screech when annoyed or frightened. He has attempted to climb up on my back for some hoppity gaga if I was sitting low enough for him to try it. What confuses me is...

Gosling very late dead in shell, why?

I had a tiny duck egg and a goose egg incubating together since 9/25/17. The duckling hatched on 10/23 but no progress with the goose egg. I thought maybe the incubator temp was too low and it just needed time. This morning it passed the float test but a while ago I started worrying about it...

    Sick duck?

My Pekin has been laying almost daily on and off for weeks. My son brought his dogs for the weekend and disrupted the household routine, i.e., the ducks were too nervous to approach their usual nests. The Pekin hasn't laid since then and she seems to not be feeling well. She sits on the bank...

    Ganders on duck?

Twice now I have caught two of my 12 week old male white Chinese ganders ganging up on my Cayuga duck. One gander holds her head under water and the other attempts to mate her. I can hear the poor thing trying to quack and it sounds more like a glub-glub. I have been able to separate them but...

    Crooked stripe on African goose

I have an 11 week old African gander (I think). He is a beautiful specimen, with the exception that his neck stripe runs more down the side of his neck rather than the back. Is this a known genetic defect or could there be a physical cause?
