I hatched 3 chickens 4 months ago and have just given the 2 cockerels away which had left me with 1 hen. I was planning on introducing her to my flock that are 22 weeks old. but was told that she would be picked on if I put her in alone so I got another hen to introduce to her in the hopes of...
I’ve noticed my (almost) 2 week old Orpington chick has always had bald patches on her neck, under her wings and a bit on its back. None of the other chicks have the same problem- is it normal or is something wrong? Attached pics:
I ordered hatching eggs of black, Buff and white silkies. Which colour does my chick fit into if any? It doesn’t looks fully black and seems to have some orange on it.
these are pictures of my two 17 day chicken eggs. Are the air bubbles to small? If so what do I do? (On day 19 now with the humidity at around 65) [/IMG]
So the humidity in my incubator has been much to high for the first 11 days on chicken egg incubation however my chicks are still alive and the air bubble is alright, maybe a little small. Should I put the humidity back down to normal (around 50) or should I go lower to expand the air bubble?
Does anyone have the "Kenley Fully Automatic Digital Incubator Chicken Poultry Hatcher - 12 Eggs". I am having some difficulties with it. Is the automatic turner already set up and does it turn every hour or 3 times a day? Also how long do you have to leave it to settle before incubating eggs...
My friend had a incubator malfunction and has kept her chicken eggs at 86.6 degrees fahrenheit and 87% humidity for their first week. I told her this was lethal to her eggs and she should start again as her eggs are probably all dead. Is this correct or is there a small change or survival or...
My incubator has no way to tell the humidity and it is to small to put a thermometer measuring humidity in it. I am not sure if I am putting too much or too little water in. Is this a problem?
The farmer who gave to my chicken eggs said to spray them with water for the last 3 days, however on websites I have found, they say to only spray duck eggs. Is this true? Should I spray my chicken eggs swell?
I have a few chicken eggs that are very dark and some have dark speckles on them so it is very hard to candle them because they are not opaque and I can't see properly. What should I do?
My incubator broke and got to a very high temperature although I was not able to record the temperature I guess it was over 105 degrees (above . It was only like this for about 5 minutes before I realised. The outside eggs cooled quickly but the one in the middle is still very very hot. What...
I have a small self turning incubator. When I turn my eggs twice a day, the temperature drops to 30 degrees Celsius and takes about 10 to 15 mins to warm back unto 378. Is this ok? Will the temperature drop effect the eggs?
I have seven chicken eggs in a manual incubator, however I am away for the 4-5th day so I can not turn them. Will this we ok? Will my chicks be affected?
I have a very very small incubator that can only just fit seven eggs but is a squeeze. When my chicks start to hatch I am scared they won't have enough space. Should I move them into something else like a spacious cardboard box with a heat lamp at 37 degrees on the last day/when I see them hatching?
I have seven chicken eggs in incubation, however I am away for the 4th and 5th day of their incubation. I can either drive them to my cousins house to look after them, but the drive is 20 mins and they wouldn't be in their incubator as it needs a plug. Or I could risk it and not turn them for 2...
