Is it at all unusual for a white peafowl to have a dark feather or two? I have a bird I thought was pure white, but I noticed an odd dark wing feather this evening.
I have two more eggs to go in a staggered hatch, but this little guy hatched yesterday. He has a curled left foot, but I have a boot on it.
Silver pied?
I have 5 peachicks this year. Two IBBS, a white, an IB, and a, er, BS Purple? Not really sure. It came out of an egg marked "purple" by the breeder, but I'd like some input. Here are some pics:
First the one from the egg marked "purple":
Then, the IB, gender?
Thanks for any help!
Hi, Janet at Three Willows farm here. :) I have been raising Sussex for several years now, although I have raised chickens all my life.

Monday I had two eggs hatch out of the latest round of Miniature Appleyard (Silver Bantam) eggs. These ducks are hard to hatch. I had ordered some from Duck Creek, and even they were having problems hatching them and had to cancel my order. :(
(One is a little lighter in beak, down, and leg...
Shipped to me as hatching eggs for Silver Appleyard calls, which is not what they are... So, what the heck are they? If I had to guess, I'd say maybe Australian Spotted? Cute little fellas, anyway.
He's in with some light Sussex chicks for now (until my calls hatch in a few days). This is the first of these that I've managed to hatch. They're pretty difficult to incubate. But, I've ordered a few more, so I should have enough to establish the breed here.
Hello all :-), I was a member on another board years ago, and have years of experience, but I only just started raising chickens again when DH and I moved back outside of town. We have 17 acres near the KY and OH border, and I have a new setup for my small flock of sussex:
