It was odd. All 4 were walking around and acting like chickens should, all 4 layed an egg today, all before noon.
Tonight around 7 I went out to change water and all were fine then all of a sudden one just kind of stopped moving around and her tail is up and her butt is pulsing.
How...
So far we have had all great looking eggs from our chickens ( 20 weeks - just started laying recently). Went out this morning and this was in the nest..... it's brown with white spots.
I understand if you don't wash the egg you can keep it out but if you wash it put it in the fridge, right?
Why would you keep them out?? Out of curiosity I never heard of eggs being kept out before.
Can you tell I am a 1st timer??
We have 4 RSL's. Now 3 out of the 4 are laying which is great, they are about 20-21 weeks or so. They lay every day. Even as new layers. It's been over a week now and the first one who layed has been laying every single day. The second one started laying a few days later and still...
We have 4 RSL's who are between 19-20 weeks. We are getting 1 egg a day and it's been 5 days in a row.
Is this one egg a day from the same chicken? Or are there more than 1 chickens laying and they are all adjusting to the whole egg procedure??
Our chickens are 19 weeks old give or take. We have 4. We went away for a few days and came home and looked and there was an egg in the nesting box. Our local farmer neighbor was taking care of them while we were gone so we thought he put an egg in there to play a trick on us. We went...
Even with a water spritzer and some shade not sure this temperature is going to be ok!
Has anyone ever brought their chickens inside??
Arizona chicken owners???? What do you do??
we are going to be well into the 100's. We have a spritzer system going for when its in the 90's but will that keep them cool enough in the 100's???? I did the ice water thing where we freeze bottles of water but they seemed oblivious to them when I put the bottles out there. I don't...
We are going to be in the high 90s and even maybe low 100s this week.
We have a mister set up, I have 2 gallon jugs with water in the freezer set to go and watermelon. They have a shade tarp over head in part of the run.
Any other suggestions?
This is our first year with chickens, who are now 11 weeks old, but not new to living in the country in the desert area. We have rattle snakes. last year killed 8 of them before my kids got bit ( we do rattle snake searches before they go out to play and they are hopefully very aware of where...
Ughhh. It doesn't rain here often so we had no way of knowing and our 4 chicks are in there ( 7 weeks). It's not wet all over but has it patches. Will they be okay until we can figure out how to fix it?
Our coop holds 4 chickens ( 6-7 weeks old) and is about 4 1/2 ' X 8 foot - maybe a little larger
How much DE should I be sprinkling for the deep litter method? We have about 3 inches or so of litter down.
I have to work at church tonight, have to be there from 4-8. My DH is works nights and just left so nobody will be home.
Our chicks are out in the run ( 6 weeks) and I have been putting then in their coop at night.
Chance of rain, but I doubt it will.
Should I put them in their coop...
our 6 week olds are moved outside all day and night, we are getting rain today. Will they go in their coop or seek cover when it rains?
Never had chickens before and my kids are asking.
1st night in the coop. Almost 6 weeks old and it will be in the 50's tonight. DH worked hard on our coop and we learned a lot from this forum on keeping them safe.
Hoping for the best.
