    Pheasant aggression

Hi I just had a question on pheasants. I have around 50 ringneck hens and 5 roosters. It seems that one or more of my hens is very fond of picking the saddle feathers of my other pheasants. She has even killed a rooster and a couple of hens. Is there any way to stop this before it progresses...

    Pheasant breeding

Hi I just had a question. In one of my ring necked pheasant flight pens one of the roosters is showing spring breeding signs. I have 18 or so hens with 3 roosters. I was planning on taking one out to a different pen during spring breeding time so there wouldn’t be too much aggression. Anyway we...

    Hardy Pheasants

Hey! I just have one question which type of pheasant is the best for release? I have been looking at stocking a property for the birds to naturally reproduce. There wouldn’t be any hunting allowed on the property. I have been looking at McFarlane and have been trying to figure out what breeds...

    Incubator setting trays

Hi I am trying to build an incubator that closely resembles the Brinsea ova-easy 380. The only problem I am having is trying to build the setting trays. I could make them out of wood but I would prefer them to be made out of metal. Is there anywhere I could buy them pre-made? Thanks!

    Pheasant wattle

Hi I just had a question. My ringneck rooster's wattle is looking kind of pale and dried up. Is this normal? He has been breeding the hens for about a week and it looked nice and red when he began breeding. Is he lacking some sort of nutrition or maybe a desiese? It's been looking pale for about...

    Pheasant tail

Hi I was just wondering how long it would take a pheasant tail to grow back? I saw a couple of days that one of my roosters broke his tail about halfway down. Will it grow back at all because it's cut only halfway and not all the way? Thanks

    Pheasant

Hey I just had a question. I just got some breeder ringnecks from a friend and one of the roosters is kinda skinny and little. Even his comb and wattle is pretty little. What could I do to beef him up a little bit for breeding season in a couple of months? Any feed I could try or anything else...

    Chukar gender

Hi I was just wondering if there is a sure fire way to tell the gender of the chukar partridge? I have some and I want to get the ratio right so that the males don't fight. Thanks -Lee

    Pheasant scabs

Hi I just got a bunch of ring-necks from a friend and noticed that some of them had some scabs on their heads from trying to get out of the pen. Is this normal or should I be concerned? Thanks

    Bloody chicken

What do you think happened? It came down in the morning with its comb bleeding so I thought I stopped the blood and then I left after I put some blue food coloring on to discourage pecking. I came back and it looked really sick and so I brought it in where it died. I can't figure out why this...

    Purple comb

Hi I was wondering why my chicken had a purple comb. I noticed this after a really cold night. Her waddle and comb is kind of swollen. Is this just some sort of frostbite or something other? Thanks Lee

    Feather loss

Hi I was just wondering why my leghorn is loosing feathers at her head and at her tail? It's really cold here 0-10 right now so I doubt that she is moulting. She was born in April and the other 7 leghorns that were born with her look great. Thanks for your suggestions Lee [/IMG]

    Pheasant pen

Hi I am building a ringnecked pheasant pen with a gabled roof. It will be 4 foot all the way up to 6 foot. What should I cover the top with? I have extra welded wire but I am worried that they will break their necks. Should I do a net of some sort, or stick with the welded wire?

    Watering nipples

I have a watering bucket with the horizontal nipple drinkers. I was wondering if they freeze in the winter? I was planning on heating the water with a bucket heater but I am worried that the chickens will drink and leave some water on the outside of the nipples. Will this water freeze and...

    Bloody feathers

Is there any way to stop pheasant feathers from bleeding after we shoot them? I love to go pheasant hunting and when I shoot a bird I usually want a couple of tail feathers. Some of the time they come out bloody and we have to wait for them to dry.

    Hatcher and incubator

Hi I was wondering if I could combine an incubator with a hatcher. I would want to hatch as well as incubate at the same time. I would want the hatching eggs to be on the bottom stacks in the incubator and the others to be in the egg turners above. Is there any way to do this, or would it just...
