Hi all,
I have entered my white bantam Pekin/Cochin cock into a local poultry show,
the show is 3 weeks away now, and i have been washing him every week for the last two weeks and the feathers on his legs are still a shade more browner than his body, he has been freeranging with his hens for...
Today I bought 12 guinea eggs, 8 lavender + 4 white (i think), I am going to incubate them in the bator but it wont be free until thursday!
so by the time I set them they will be a week old so is there still a good chance of me even getting 6 to hatch?
This will be my first time attempting...
A person near me has a pair of white call ducks he wants to get rid of asap (wants space for alpacas!)
Would they be able to live in a run 3X 2 meters?
they will have a house seperate.
Honest opinions Please (want happy ducks)
ok.... I have a broody hen with 3 chicks, i now have her seperated from the main flock, but there is still 3 eggs that i know that are not fertile that she is sitting on. should i take the eggs away from her as she is still sitting on them? (its now day 23) and she is not bringing the chicks...
I have a hen that will be hatching on wendesday and have chicks that will be a week old on the same day,
would i be able to give the hen a few more chicks as only 3 eggs under her are fertile?
Thanks in advance.
Iv kinda ordered 10 silver guinea fowl eggs!!!
But dont know what they look like!!!
Does anyone have ony pictures or even any links to a picture of a silver guinea??
Thanks in advance!
Just wondering can a very high humidity be bad or do damage to the chicks??
I have 24 eggs in lockdown now and dont want to see anymore fullyformed chicks inside!!
So if i could bring the humidity to about 90, would it be better for the eggs/chicks?? (currently at 70)
If i cross my blue orp cockeral with my buff orp hen will the colours be true?? (like will half be buff and the other half be blue?)
Or will it be a blueyorange colour bird??
Many thanks in advance.
I am thinking of getting some guinea fowl eggs and hatch them out.
the probllem is, can guinea fowl be aggressive like roosters??
since the guinea cant be kept enclosed they would have the freedom of the garden where the children play.....
so can guinea fowl be aggressive??
thanks in advance.
I was givin a white pekin hen this morning from a friend as it was being "bullied" in the flock that she was in (RIR and marans).
she was the only bantam in the flock with all the large fowl, and is almost a year old
she has alot of feathers missing and her comb is totally gone and has scabs...
if a rooster has bad frostbite on his comb will he lose his fertility??
I have been told that its true, I just laughed!!
I have been thinking about this and think not, but is there any truth in this??
look at this link...
in my opinion its not right to treat animals like this....

I never have and never will get chicks from a hatchery, Thats just my opinion!!!
I recently got a new silkie (8 months old) and she is not laying and her poos are are yellow!
any idea why she is not laying and why she has yellow poo?
could it be worms or something?
