4 of my chicks have started to develop bubbles on their chests they were all given to me and I'm not sure what it's from any ideas? how do I get rid of them?
So it's been roughly 8 hours and my chick(golden polish),now dry and fluffy, is laying around curled up. Not worrying. But it's only moves backwards and falls on it's back. Is this normal? The other chick seems to be picking on it and the chick just lays the or flops on it's back.
I just got home 3 1/2 hours ago and had yet another hatch but this chick just will not dry off. He/she has been given a dry towel and I thought maybe it would dry off eventually but still no luck. I've been waiting to switch to the brooder until he/she is dry.
So last night we ran out of started and just had some more chicks hatch and the only store nearby is closed, left with only laying mash is there anything else for my chicks to eat? Or can I make something?
I was lucky to have my polish lay at the same time my duck went broody. I rolled my eggs under her and later on took the duck eggs (they went bad) and today I had my first chick hatch!! The mama duck has no problem with him/her but will the other ducks in the flock? Seeing as it is a small chicken?
I have my duck sitting on some golden polish chicken eggs. Today one has externally pipped and now I'm left with a problem. I have been setting eggs under my duck everyday for two weeks. Once egg one hatches do I take it and let the duck continue to sit or will she still sit until the others...
i have 35 bantom polish and silkie/polish cross eggs in the incubator it has been 22 days and no hatching. When I candled one it showed the egg was not fulled completely by the chick and there was still movement. Is this okay? Why is this happening? I've been sure to keep the humidity and temps...
i have a young chick. I'm aware that her mom is a silkie but I donno what breed the father may have been. She started out all black and has now started to grow in brown chest and neck fathers. Any ideas?
So I have a question, I've heard how terrible polish chickens are when it comes to mothering their eggs and will usually drop it and walk away. Over the last week two of my polish have started laying, one tends to lay anywhere and leave it and the second has make a nest and been laying in it...
she/he is about 2 ish months old maybe more was bought 8-9 weeks old. Since then she/he has grown considerably and now I have the question pullet or roo. I already have 3 Roos and i was hoping for a pullet. I've noticed that it doesn't have the dark red comb or the black skin(more of a grey or...
My newly purchased Muscovy duck is really limping and I don't know what from. I thought he may have gotten alittle beat up by the new foal but it doesn't seem to be getting better we didn't notice it for the first couple days of having him but now it's been a month and it's still there. He lays...
i am currently raising a 2ish month old chick. She's a silkie cross(5 toes, fuzzy legs, adorable poofy bum) but I don't have any clue what she is bred with and neither does the breeder. She's lovely and carries a very soft chirp. I have noticed she has a very distinct head unlike any of my other...
I have 13 eggs in my incubator ranging anywhere from 1-8 days old. 8 days ago I put my first 3 golden polish eggs in the incubator (My girls first lays) and have continued to add new eggs everyday. Yesterday I candled my eggs and i can clearly see growth in my egg labeled 1 but 2 and 3 are...
I have 2 golden polish hens laying eggs. I have 4 Roos in with them(3 silkies and one polish.) I have seen many different looking silkie polish crosses. Would colour of the parents effect their colouring? I have a blue, a grey, and a white silkie and the hens are both golden polishes. Will the...
I have 4 Roos on my farm. 3 of which are silkies(white, blue, and grey) and the last a golden polish. I also have two polish hens that are all in the same coop. My hens have recently started laying and i was wondering if for each silkie roo that breeds the polish hens will the chicks come out...
