I have a beautiful Lavender Orpington rooster named Mr. Grey. I would like to cross him with some of my hens I currently have? I understand about the recessive gene in the Lavender color and how black will end up showing through on a First Gen chick. I am curious which breed if hen, if any would...

Should we introduce a new rooster to our flock?

We recently gave away our Star Spangled Hamburg because he was spurring and scaring me, as well as attacking some of the sweet hens we have. But our hens are confused and broody even without an egg underneath them. They have been pecking each other and making very loud noises and very anxious...

Sorry, I am new to the site as of yesterday and I keep asking questions! We started selling our pullet eggs, as we named them at $2.00 and now we're up to $3.00, eventually going to end at $4.00. We live in a small town and a lot of folks do not even know what organic means or free range. But...

Not having consistent laying from my pullet hens??

We have 6 breeds of hens and we never have a consistent laying pattern from them, except the 3 Americanas and the 1 Salmon Favorelle (Sammy). At least we believe it's her egg, simply because it is the only mauve egg that is laid every day and has the same shape. We have Delawares, Speckled...
