First time I've seen it first time I've had to fix it. Hopefully these pictures are good enough you guys can tell me if the wife and i got it all out. Soaked her for close to 45 min warm water and Epsom salts also a few drops of iodine to help kill anything. Just found her limping yesterday...
Had a dog attack, lost 8 so far 8 more on antibiotics and healing. What kind specifically, or does it matter, of yogurt would I want to feed them to help with thier stomachs while on and after antibiotics?
So I was waiting on a squash to cook on the grill and looked over and re-read the headline of this print off the vet gave me for deworming the hoard.... does this stuff kill lice and what not too?
Have a light brahma hen 6 months old, wife saw it this morning with huge stool build up almost like pasty butt. After a quick look we thought prolapse, gather up some goodies to start, hopefully, fixing her and in for a soak she goes..... come to find out what we thought was the insides was...
I know I have hen with worms, saw her leave a pile infront of me last Saturday in the sunlight safe things moving. Bird doctor not in the weekends, is there a way to speed thier bowel movements so I can get a fresh sample to the vet? Figure if one has they all do or to a degree, would like to...
So I have one hen 18 months ish old, pretty much in a constant state of broody. I can break her for about 3 maybe 4 wks and she starts trying to go broody. I use a rabbit cage up on 2 cinder blocks usually takes 5 days maybe 6, and in about a month she's back at it again. Am I doing something...
I have noticed some of the roosters I have been butchering this year have different skin types. I haven't noticed much much in that forum of the different skin types, was curious if it could be added, maybe no one wanted or cared to. Just a curiosity cause those paper skin ones are a pain!
So our girls free range all day, got no problem getting them to come home every night. But all of sudden I've been having serious issues getting them to lay in the boxes in the coop. And now that I have several new pullets starting to lay they are more inclined to lay outside. I have 8 nesting...
Not sure where to post this, but I live where the clay concentration in the soil is very high. I know how to keep it at bay and break it down so I can actually have a yard, but part of that is using disintagrating sulfur in pellet form. A couple good waterings with sprinklers or rain storms...
If I had a hen trying to go broody, I would've let her under normal circumstances just not going to be around enough this summer to keep chicks.... sad day I know..... but will her going broody cause others to go broody as well? She's one of the more alpha hens in the group. I've had 2 or 3...
So I have 2 hens that seem hell bent on always being in this one nesting box. Thought maybe one of them, who I know goes broody a lot, was just that, tomorrow will be day 4 in the cage. The day after I put said been in the cage, the other could care less about the nesting boxes unless she had...
..... mowing along and minding my business. Wondering if I'd find or see the aftermath of a missing cockerel since yesterday. Stopped the mower to move a hard plastic rubbermaid watering dish that was upside down, and had been for about a week, went to go grab it and thought, seems a little...
Looking at the tail and watching personality/ actions, I'm starting to think the wife is right about this one possibly being a cockerel.... just no real comb..... bought at local feed store as an EE as a chick still all in down on March 1st.
Last 3 pics are from april 28th, the others may 10th
Partly I would like to know what it is, boris of the feet are yellow. It's about 6-7 weeks old. Don't remember if the tank said hoover's black, not sure what breed(s) that is, or Jersey giant. I bought 2 of them and 2 supposed black copper marans. All 4 birds after the down disappeared look...
I have a couple crows, pretty sure a mating couple have some a nice job of keeping the hawks at bay, are they something I'm going to have to worry about in the future?
We've had these girls for year now trying to figure out what they are. The first one I'm thinking is a marans, or at least in part. The second we're not sure if it's a RIR or a NHR. 3,4,and 5 we have no clue on
So I'm not allowed any more birds, wife said no. She was however, okay with me hatching a few for a friend. 2 days after I fired up the incubator I had a hen go broody. Candled them at day 7 took the 4 good ones and put them under her, figured I have never gone the natural route before, why...
