    What is this roo?

Recently acquired rooster from a neighbor who bought it at the local expo. His daughter has bought an identical rooster from there, different breeder, which leads me to believe it isn't a mutt, although it looks to me like some type of sultan/silkie mix. Does anyone know what he is?

Any good breeders or hatcheries of OTHER farmbirds besides chickens?

I'm not sure if this belongs in this thread but I figured people who were providing information about chicken breeders may know about breeders of turkeys, guineas, ducks and geese. I get my chickens from mypetchicken.com and I really appreciate how they make it easy to order low quantities of...

Can not get the chickens to stay out of the neighbors barn.

Tried chicken wire, they fly over it. tried moving the coop farther from the neighbors' barn, and it didn't help at all. and I want free-rangers but they will not stay in our yard. in the morning they all sneak over there while we are all at school/work and won't come back until later in the...

new white sultan hen rescued-- questions.

So we bought a white sultan hen. She is tagged, and I don't think she has ever been ab;e to be outside. I think she was a warehouse chicken. Cause she doesn't really move or interact with the others much, all she does is sit in the same place all day, and she eats with the rest of the flock. We...

Buying six ducklings next weekend-- breed suggestions?

Right now I'm thinking about 3 khaki campbell/3 pekin. Does anyone have any suggestions? I do not own a pond, I will be providing a kiddie pool for water play. And probably no smaller breeds as they will be roosting in the same building as my chickens and guineas.

Has my sweet Golden Comet rooster gone bad? Should I get rid of him?

I have a golden comet rooster named Oliver and he is one of the most docile birds I've ever met. I believe it's because he was the yellowest, fluffiest, cutest chick and therefore he was handled the most. He is nearly one year old. We got him in batch of a dozen chicks last year, and being naive...

What dog breeds can be taught NOT to hurt my chickees?

I have 9 chickens currently, am buying three guineas and six ducklings next weekend, and have eleven more chicks arriving in the mail next month! I definitely love my poultry, and am NOT willing to give it up. But I have a 5-year old sister who is dying for a dog, and to be honest I'd like one...
