    Egg eating pest?

So we have a pest problem of some sort. Some people have said it might be rats, but I'm wondering if maybe it's something else? The droppings it's leaving behind look like they might be too long for rat poop. Whatever it is, it's eating their eggs, crapping everywhere, and has multiple holes...

    Egg Eater?

Something has been eating our chickens eggs and we're not sure what. Whatever it is has made multiple burrows underneath our coop. We plan to fill the holes and cover the entire perimeter with hardware cloth, but we are still interested to know what it is. Whatever it is, isn't interested in the...

    Khaki Campbell gender?

So we have 6 Khaki campbell ducklings that are almost 10 weeks old. So far they all look the same. At what age do they start getting their adult feathers? I know the Drakes get greenish black heads. Is it possible I got blessed with all hens? :fl I'd post a Pic, but I'm not home at the moment

When is too soon for ducklings to eat layer feed?

So we have two hens going Broody and need to separate them from the rest of the flock. The coop we normally use for broody hens is currently being occupied by 7 week old Khaki Campbell and White Pekin ducklings. So here's my question, if I move the ducklings to the adult coop so the broody hens...

    Ameraucana or Easter Egger cockerel?

We believe this chick is a cockerel as the comb has 3 rows. However, I'm wondering if this is a ameraucana? We got him from tractor supply, which I know that usually the chicks labeled as ameraucana aren't true ameraucanas, they are usually Easter Eggers. This one however looks different than...

    Golden laced wyandotte cockerel?

I've had some experience being able to tell the cockerels from the pullets, however this is my first golden laced wyandotte, so I've never had a chicken with a rose comb. Only single, pea, and wlnut combed. So I've been thinking this little one and it's hatchmate might be cockerels. Any thoughts?

    Cute broody acting pullet!

So we have this 5 week old black star pullet that's acting like a broody mommy to some of our 5 day old chicks. She's seriously sitting on them keeping them warm like a broody mama. :love.... It's the cutest thing I've ever seen.

    Black star rooster???!

So we purchased many chicks recently and unfortunately, which tractor supply is SOOO famous for, 3 chicks that were labeled as pulleys, are 100% cockerel. This is so frustrating. So here's my dilemma, I am confused. I thought that black stars were sex links, so I thought I was guaranteed pullet...

Will my cat kill my ducks?

So we've had chickens a few years now and decided we want to also have ducks. We just purchased some Rouen ducklings yesterday. Now my question is, will our cat attack them once their adults? I know to keep them out of reach now while they're babies, but what about when they're full grown? Our...

    Possible cockerel?

So I have 2 silkie olive egger mixes. Up until now I thought they were both girls, but now I'm having doubts. They are 6 weeks old. I'm usually pretty good at spotting the boys at a young age, but these 2 r not as obvious.

3 hens broody at the same time

We have 3 hens who all decided to go broody at the same time. We want to build them a small separate coop away from the rest of the flock so the other hens don't keep laying eggs on top of them and mixing new eggs with eggs that have already been brooded for a few days. So my question is can I...

    Injury on hen's back?

So today I just noticed one of my hens has a big hole on her back. Idk if it's an injury from a predator? Or a parasite? Any help would be appreciated!

Broody hen at the end of winter?

So I have a black australorp that's been trying to go broody for over a week, but we keep removing eggs as we think it's still too cold. It may be March here but you'd never know it. We still have 2 ft of snow on the ground and tonight is going down to 8 degrees. However, next week will be in...

    Bitter eggs??

I've noticed in the last month that some of my chickens eggs are bitter. Not always, but at least twice a week. What could be causing this? For reference, they free range.

    Help not all eggs hatching!

So I am a first time hatcher. My Easter egger went broody 21 days ago and one egg hatched this morning, however her other 3 eggs still haven't hatched. Is it normal for the other eggs to take longer?

    Help! Silkie pullet or cockerel?

This Snowbell our silkie. We got her with 2 other Silkies. One of them is DEFINITELY a cockerel, very obvious. However I thought up until recently that this one was a pullet. Now I'm wondering if she too is cockerel. Her waddles seem bigger than the 3rd silkie. I also thought that her comb seems...

How to care for a Broody Easter Egger?

So we have an EE that started going Broody yesterday. She's been sitting on her nest for over 24hrs now, with only a break for about 10 to 15 min to eat and drink. My question is does she need anything extra during her time of broodiness to help her? Does she need to be separate from the other...

Is my silkie a cockerel or a pullet?

I bought 3 Silkies. 1 of them was older than the other 2. I really thought she was a girl at first because she had a lot of feather development. All my other roosters had almost no feather development until they were about 4 wks old. I believe this little silkie is probably about 3 wks old...

    What breed?

So we just go 18 new baby peeps. We got them from 3 different tractor supply stores. The last trip in which my husband picked them out at the store and not myself, we got 6. So first 2 of them were labeled as buff orpingtons, which I know they r not(my husband does not know how to tell the...
