    Duck egg freshness question

Hi. Hewey kept hiding and burying her eggs. Even though I searched the spot, she had buried them under leaves. I found 10 of them. I simply thought she had stopped laying. Are these eggs any good still? Any way to tell? Thanks.

    YUM!

I looked for duck egg recipes here and saw the one for masala. Not sure why I didn’t use it. Anyway, after a quick search online, I found a similar recipe. I’m not a great cook, but I can follow a recipe. This was delicious!!! Maybe I’ve never had warmed hard boiled chicken eggs before, but...

    Duck egg question

Hi all. After two weeks of laying decent eggs, my duck laid one with no shell at all. Just the inside layer. I only assume this because I found the empty husk in the water dish with no shell fragments around it. After the initial egg was laid, all her eggs have been normal, so I never picked up...

Quick question... I hope someone’s up.

Hi. I just brought home a companion duck for my last mallard. She’s a female Khaki Campbell not too much larger than Dewey. I put her in the enclosure and Dewey hid in a corner. The new duck followed her there and they stood next to each other until I chased them back under the heat lamp where...

$1000 Duck Egg ... Many questions now.

Hi! I'm a grandpa...of sorts. If you've seen me post before, you'll know I had 3 ducks originally called Huey, Dewey and Louie. Much to my chagrin they turned out to be mallards - not the Rouens I was expecting! They learned to fly, and fly away so well that they caught the attention of a barn...

    Ok. Debate time.

Alright. I’m down one duck, in all likelihood. All three ducks took off last Thursday in the evening, right before dark. Two are really good flyers and were soaring around the neighborhood way up high. The third, Louie, barely got over the neighbor’s house. I figured they’d all be back before...

    I’m baaack...

Hi. I know it’s been a while since I’ve been in here, but once I discovered my ducks were mallards and not Rouens, I stopped worrying about them as much. They are indeed three females. They can indeed fly. 2 of them fly all over while the third stays closer to home. All three disappeared for 2...

    Spruce Tree?

My ducks were nibbling on the big old spruce tree in our back yard. Is this going to make them sick?

    Help!?! Mallard or Rouen

Hi. I have been under the assumption that my ducks are Rouens for the following reasons: 1) When I brought duckling pics to my local TSC, the duck guru said they were Rouen (the original TSC lady at the store I bought them from told me they Khakis - even I knew that was wrong). 2) TSC is not...

    How long for niacin?

How long should I be adding niacin to my ducks’ feed? I’ve used just about 1 pound of brewer’s yeast for 3 ducks the first 8 weeks of their lives. Do I give it to them the rest of their lives? Until they are on layer crumble? They are currently almost 9 weeks old and on poultry starter crumble...

    Do they know?!?

My poor guys/gals are flapping their wings whenever there is a stiff breeze: It reminds me a little of the Albatross trying to take off in “The Rescuers”. They do know they can’t fly...right?!?

    First snowfall!

It’s the first snowfall of the year. Earlier today the grass was green! Ducks have had no issues with it though! Polar bear swim anyone? Duck footprint postcard for Christmas this year!

    Ducks aren’t eating crumble...much.

Hi. My ducks seem to be healthy and happy, but they aren’t eating much of their crumble. I add mealworms - which seem to disappear, brewer’s yeast, and grit. I have three 6.5 week-old Rouens and they eat maybe 4 pounds of crumble in a week - probably closer to 3 after waste. I know I probably...

    Gender guesses

Hi! I’m new to raising ducks and am curious about Huey, Dewey, and Louie. They all have a dark top, and the largest, Huey, has a definite green sheen to its head. However, two of the three quack - including Huey who was the first to object to being picked up with a decent quack. The rest of...

    New to ducks

Hi! I’m new to raising ducks and have learned tons from this website! Thanks!!! I own 3 Rouen ducks. They are about 5 weeks old now. They are pictured for my profile. Then: Now: I will be posting my questions in the appropriate forum.
