What's your worst incurred rooster injury (or worst you've heard of)?

Trying to make myself feel better & make my roo's attacks pale in comparison.....Don't take this too seriously, trying to laugh vs. cry at my chicken tales of woe.

Evil roosters - sick of getting attacked - suggestions?

So I have a flock of 15 chickens - All but 3 are only a few months old (they are huge) and my now integrated flock plus 2 ducks get along fantastically (very lucky with so many breeds). I have 3 adults - a silkie/2 frizzles. I have one rooster from my original 3 - about a year old - I've...

anyone have a reptipro 5000 die shortly after purchase? temp 140

200 bucks down the drain. After my 2nd hatch and only 28 or so days of use - it started beeping nonstop, and the temp got stuck on 140. The up and down buttons don't work. How annoying, thank GOD my 2nd batch hatched LAST NIGHT. Talk about the nick of time. It started doing this...

French Blk Copp Marans from Ebay - mystery chicks hatched - any guess?

I had a 75% hatch, 2 pipped and died. 4 made it. Two are pale yellow/white. 2 are dark w/ markings that are different. They were all supposed to be pure line French Black Copper Marans. The eggs they came from were all totally chocolate. I'm just wondering how in the world I got white...

Silver Spangled Hamburg (not sure of my Silver Phoenixes will hatch)...more to come tomorrow! So far so good with the Reptipro 5000. Cannot believe how complex they get in only 12 hours - walking, pecking, peeping, exploring!

French Maran Eggs - incubating - candling for dark eggs? blind myth?

I have ~10 French Black Copper Marans - I'm new to incubating. Am having success with some other breeds that are a week a head of the Marans so at least I know I'm doing something right thus far. I have 2 hatch dates a week apart - and yes I know about all the temp/humidity changes for the last...

Found my Cayuga duck on his back the other night - couldn't flip!

Okay, so I don't know if this duck was doing this intentionally (it had never occurred to me that this could be intentional) but here is a pic: https://www.backyardchickens.com/forum/uploads/23298_upside_down_duck.jpg he seemed to have a little trouble righting himself from this position... I...

    Hi from SW Oregon

Hello everyone. Never thought I'd see so many people with chickens in one place. I'm about to get a few ancona ducks in May (awaiting hatchings) and chickens, as yet to be decided next week. This will be my first foray into chickendom and duckdom. Hoping to possibly get a rooster as well...
