Hi,
One of my four pet chickens has been sneezing for the past week and is now sneezing a lot more frequently. My other hens have started sneezing and one has a pale comb and laid a wrinkled egg.
I did some research on their symptoms and i think that they have infectious bronchitis. I’ve...
Hi,
I am 90% sure that the white spots on my chickens feathers are lice eggs, but I would like a second opinion from you guys.
The second thing is that I noticed this strange white spot on my hen’s nose today and I’m not sure what it is or if it is bothering her (sorry it’s not a great photo)...
Hi,
I’ve been treating one of my hens after discovering a bad lice infection about a month ago. My hen still has dry and flakey skin which irritates her when I try and clean her with water.
I haven’t managed to stop the dry and flakey skin from appearing on her, so I was wondering if she has a...
Hi,
One of my chickens has started sneezing, but doesn’t show any symptoms such as a runny nose, swollen face or watery droppings. It started two days ago after my hen ate some breakfast.
She is still eating, drinking and laying eggs, however from her body language she looks to be slightly...
Hi,
My year old Barnevelder hen started to sneeze yesterday and I believe that she has a respiratory disease. She doesn't have a runny nose or eyes, however I have treated her today with antibiotics and Vetericyn plus (antimicrobial wound spray). So far she doesn't seem too lethargic and is...
Hi,
My Barnevelder hen has been laying some strange eggs lately and I’m starting to worry about her health. She is around 21 weeks old and she has laid two soft shell eggs: one with just the yoke and membrane and the other was formed in an egg shape with no shell. Before the first egg she...
Hi,
I posted a thread a few week ago relating to the gender of my Rhode Island Red chicken. The consensus was that it’s a hen, however her tail feathers are growing and they are completely green like a rooster’s so I’m back to asking for help again.
Hi,
My Rhode Island Red chicken that I bought a few weeks ago is starting grow grow out it’s tail. I’m starting to think it’s cockerel and not a pullet due to the tail feathers, except it’s comb is very small which would suggest that it’s a hen. What do you guys think?
Hello,
I bought two pullets a fortnight ago to introduce with two hens in my current flock. The pullets avoid the hens during the day as the dominant hen pecks them away and chases them sometimes.
The problem I’m worried about is between the hens and the pullets at dusk where the hens go to...
Hi,
About two weeks ago I bought two new chickens to add to my pre existing flock; A Rhode Island Red and a Silver Laced Barnevelder. During the second day of keeping the birds I noticed the Barnevelder kept one of it’s eyes almost constantly closed. I then took the two birds and the owner...
Hi everyone, I thought I should make this thread for people who are wanting to buy Poultry in AU. If you know any good hatcheries or breeds put their website here to help others find places to buy their poultry.
My hen Leggy (Leghorn x New Hampshire) has been molting and has started laying eggs again. The difference is that now they're white eggs not brown. I don't know why this is but each day the eggs have been getting darker. Today the egg I found was white and brown!
Hi I was wondering about Australian langshans compared to normal Langshans. I've heard the Australian Langshans are smaller and lighter but I was wondering if they still lay the purpleish brown eggs and are they more heat hardy. If someone knows please reply, thanks.
I've seen people on this website who have chickens that lay pink eggs and I was wondering how did they get a pink egg or if it's possible for a hen to lay purple eggs, thanks.
Hi everyone i'm have a bit of a dilemma. I have three Chickens; Squeaker Wyandotte x cochin, Phoenix the Phoenix cross and Leghorn the Leghorn x New hampshire. All of them laid White eggs except for Leghorn who laid a brown egg. Leghorn is going through a bit more of a heavy molt than Squeaker...
