One of our peacocks has damage to his eye. I cannot tell if the eye is gone or it’s swollen (see pics). None of our other 5 are having any issues. They sleep in either our barn hay loft or occasionally the chicken coop so it wasn’t a predator attack. He doesn’t appear injured anywhere else.
We...
We have a two-year-old great Pyrenees in our pasture now, and he is wonderful. Today we got a new puppy who is 10 weeks old. I’m not sure when to let him stay outside with our other dog and our livestock. With our first pry (who we got at 12 weeks) the vet told us that he was too young to be put...
Our rooster was injured by a dog yesterday. I brought him inside to clean him up and assess injury. He lost a few feathers but otherwise seems okay. I was concerned about internal damage but he’s up this morning eating, drinking and sort of crowing.
Because I give the roosters a wide berth I’m...
Our turkey has black (it looks like scabs) on the bottom of his snood. He’s eating and drinking normal, no other obvious issues.
We recently added a hen and I saw her peck there this morning but I’m not sure that’s what caused it. It’s been there awhile and I can’t imagine she’s doing that much...
We have a peahen we knew was sitting on eggs. She came home with 4 peachicks the other day!
We managed to get her into a 10x12 section of our old barn that was empty.
We kept her and the babies in last night.
My question is do we keep them inside or do we let her out?
We free range chickens...
Wondering what our rooster is (we bought him at an auction).
Also “rescued” a few chicks from the clearance bin at Tractor Supply awhile back and am curious what they are too.
*i know in the last pics there’s a silkie but I don’t know what the other 2 are.
Thanks
These two black sexlink hens look off to me...their combs and faces are usually a bright red.
I’ve included some pictures.
Both are laying, eating and drinking.
Is this an indicator of a health issue? I’ve read about changes in comb color and disease, but not sure what we may be looking at...
Our turkey is eating well, active, social and by all accounts behaving normally (I’ve also not seen any yellowish or diarrhea type poop, but she roams so I may just not see it)...however I did just notice some black marks on her face and I’m worried it might be blackhead disease. I’ve included...
Our turkey appears fine, is eating and drinking normally and I’ve not seen yellowish poop anywhere (but she roams so it would be difficult to find) however she has black marks on her face. Hoping this is not blackhead disease in the early phases, but I know that’s a very real possibility.
We unfortunately had to cull our tom bronze breasted turkey as he became extremely aggressive to us, and basically every other living thing we have.
We have the sweetest female (same breed) turkey and are getting a few more females for her to have a small flock.
Now that the tom is gone the...
We bought some chics from Tractor Supply recently. Today I noticed that some of them have bare spots and what looks like raw spots.
We've raised around 40 other chics and I've never seen this.
These chics were in the clearance bin so we have no idea what kind they are.
The pictures aren't...
We’re fairly new to hobby farming (just shy of a year) and this is the first time I’ve seen the “clearance bin” of chics at Tractor Supply. I don’t know if it’s like that at every store, but it was truly awful at the store I went to . In the 10 minutes we were there, the lady took out 4 dead...
We have two mini donkeys. Our Jack is a real sweetheart. We've had him almost a year. He came from a farm where they raise minis and we were told he'd be okay without another mini. Fast forward a few months (after reading tons of things that say he needs a companion) we got a Jenny (from a local...
Hello,
New here, 1st post:
We have two peacocks and two peahens. We inherited them when we bought our house. Previous owner says they are 1 1/2 years old. All 4 have coexisted peacefully for the 6 months we’ve had them, but recently the peacocks are fighting. The one chases the other out of the...
