Hi, this isn't my duckling, just trying to help someone and they don't have a BYC account
They have a 5 week old Pekin duckling who has been unable to walk for at least 3 weeks. They can scoot along the floor but not stand. It looks like a niacin deficiency to me, but it has been 3 weeks of...
Hi there,
Does anyone know where to find duckling/gosling starter feed online in Canada? No feed stores in area so would have to be online with shipping.
Thanks so much!
Canada goose parents were killed by hunters yesterday and my friend brought the eggs inside in a box with a heater blowing on them. They externally pipped sometime this morning, so something like 12 hours ago. They have not made any progress since the initial pip. They are rocking around and...
My cat scratched my goose and cut the bottom of her bill where it is soft. I had her clean it with fresh water and stopped the bleeding with cornstarch.. 1-2 hours later I went to check on her and the whole area is very swollen now. So far, I sprayed it with Vetericyn and put a layer of...
(Not my duckling, posting for someone else) Hope it's okay that I posted on the injury section too.
He's 13 days old, it began a couple days ago. Her vet won't see him unless it's a broken leg... There's no swelling and does not appear to be painful, but he cannot walk. He falls on his face and...

From what I've read, geese usually start laying in mid February in the New England area - is that accurate? When do they usually start sitting on their eggs? Is it possible a goose would try to incubate their eggs this early in the year with it still being cold out?
Thank you!
From what I understand, Mazuri is really the best feed for geese. My gander loves it, my goose acts as if it's poison. She's been offered it basically her entire life, and still picks through to get the other feed and spits out any Mazuri she accidentally picks up.
We currently feed her Nutrena...
I noticed a pinkish colour on my goose so I parted her feathers and found this, a lot of dried blood. What is this? Could it be a broken blood feather that clotted itself? it seems like an awful lot of blood which is really worrying me.
Thank you for any help
Hi there,
I have experience with geese but not ducks. I am in the process of moving a flock of ducks and geese who were apparently abandoned at a local pond to a sanctuary. One of the ducks, a Pekin drake, has what appears to be an eye infection but I'm worried it could be more than that. His...
Does anyone else grow fodder for their geese? I currently give mine wheat and barley fodder as a treat, but I'd prefer fodder to make up the majority of their diet as I feel it's much healthier/natural for them. But I'm worried they could end up missing out on nutrients, is there a particular...
Hi there,
I have 6 month old Sebastopol gander (we think). About 1 or 1.5 months ago, his feathers started poking out and I thought it was angel wing. I've read that angel wing is most common in geese between 4 and 8 weeks of age but it can happen later on. I tried to wrap his wings for several...
My gosling is a month old and every time he eats grass or lettuce, it’s basically entirely undigested. He appears healthy otherwise. He eats Mazuri Waterfowl Starter but I think we’re supposed to switch to Maintenance soon? Can’t seem to find when exactly. He also has access to Chick grit at...
Hi! I did post this in the geese section a week or so ago but figured I'd see if anyone here has any ideas...
I have a gosling who eats everything. Doesn't just chew/taste and spit out, actually ingests.. We just had a big scare with a rubberband that I dropped and in 1 second it was gone -...
My 15 day old gosling swallowed a rubber band, like a medium/average size one, about 10 hours ago. It was cut, so it was more like a string. I spoke to the emergency vet when it happened and they don't see geese so wouldn't take him. They said that it should just pass through, but I'm really...
