I ordered these Brown Leghorns as cockerels from Hoover’s Hatchery. They are 9 weeks old. Their combs have gotten bigger but are not very red. They are very alert of the surroundings. Please let me know what you think.
Is there a way to tell the difference between cockerel and pulleys at 3 weeks. This one is always alert and braver than the rest of the chicks. Also lots of barring in color already.
He/she is 3 weeks old. Is already starting to develop Red feathering on the wings. From other posts this is usually a sign of a cockerel. Does that mean this one's a boy?
Came from True Value and they were clueless about the chicks. Tried telling me the brown striped ones were barred rocks. They have the puffy cheeks so thought maybe they are easter eggers.
My name is Alison and I just started catering to my chickens just about 2 years ago. I started with 6 hens and a rooster. Last fall I got 11 more 5 month old pullets. I lost a few over the winter due to old age. I decided to try raising chicks this spring. I think I may have an addiction though...
