I checked my chickens last night... all was fine. This a.m. one of my girls had passed, obviously several hours ago. Her anus and tail feathers were all bloody. It didn’t look like the other girls had attacked her.
Any ideas on what the problem might be? I want to keep my other girls safe!
I’m...
does anyone have suggestions on how to keep your dog from eating chicken poop?? It doesn’t agree w/her digestion and besides it’s gross. I yell at her, but then she goes right back to it.
does anyone have any ideas on what to do w/all the feed sacks one collects? I use a couple for recycling (cardboard, cans, #1 plastic), and I wipe off my dog food bags & use them for wrapping packages (inside out so I can use the blank side for addressing). Oh, and I use them as trash bags too.
I’m raising 8 layers & 17 meat chickens together. They’re 5 weeks old now, eating a few handfuls of scratch (as a treat), vegie scraps, & unmedicated chick starter.
I think in another week it’s time to start them on grown up food? When I switch, should I mix the chick starter w/the adult food...
should we separate the layers from the meat birds? The layers are so much smaller... they are about 3 weeks old. I’m going to start bringing them outside during the day as soon as I get the pen finished (in another day or two I think). they don’t seem to be be picking on each other, but the meat...
not really... but they are eating like little pigs. Should I feed them twice a day or should they have food all the time? I’m using a pie plate and filling it about halfway 3-4 times a day for 25 chicks.
Thanks for the help!
OOPS! Wrong forum!!
Hi,
We bought 7 Black Australorps and a bunch of Freedom Rangers; this little “cuckoo” got mixed in w/the Rangers. I’m just curious to know if this is an egg layer or a meat chicken, and what type of chicken she is. Thanks!!
hi all,
I’m from AK. Used to have goats and now I’m switching to chickens. I have Black Australorp & Freedom Ranger chicks. Looking forward to free range eggs and meat.
