I have a "mutt" chicken has been laying large eggs. Slightly larger than jumbo. I just went out to gather the day's offerings and found an egg that measures 3.5" long and 7" around. Has anyone had a girl lay eggs this big? Do I need to be concerned about her? I hurt just looking at this egg!
I am on the search for started pullets in the greater L-A area of Maine.
Am hoping for medium to heavy laying birds. Please contact me if you have any available. Being in Maine I am willing to travel a bit to pickup the ladies. Thanks for your help!
I hope this isn't a stupid question or has been covered ad nauseum and I'm just not seeing the answer. I am restarting my flock with black australorps and buff orpingtons. I would also like to get a roo. If iget a buff orpington roo and it mates with a black australorp what the heck do I get...
I am looking to restart my flock after leaving NY. I am in Poland, Maine and am looking for any started pullets. I am willing to travel a bit for pick-up.
I have three black australorps that are approx. 14-15 weeks old. We will be moving soon and I do not think the long distance we will be moving will be ideal for them. Be warned these girls are not hand friendly despite our best efforts and are very nervous around people. Other than that...
Both my white leg horns are completely naked on their underside. There are no other symptoms...they eat, they drink, they lay and they get along really well with their rommies. I do not have a roo and they like laying(dusting)their naked selves in the diatamaceous(spelling?) earth I use under...
I have three australorp chicks available for $3.50 each. They are approx 2.5 weeks old and vaccinated. They should all be ladies but I won't make any promises. Please contact me if you are interested!
I will be purchasing a half dozen australorps in March but I only really have the room for 3. The approximate cost per chick will be $4.00. They will be vaccinated. I am located in the lower hudson valley and will be ordering my chicks through Heritage Feed and Supply in Bullville, NY...
I literally just started on this obsession yesterday and I have already seen a lot of reference to "sex-linked" chickens. What does this mean? I have not been able to find a definition.
I became the proud mom of 2 leghorns today and have spent the past 3 hours surfing all this info! Just wondering if there is any one else in the Lower Hudson Valley?
