I had 7 Snowflake eggs laid by my only female. She had interest in her eggs in that she would sit an hour or two here and there. After a few days I can tell she wasn't serious about being broody. I do have two broody Gambel's who were happy to brood the eggs which they did a great job, but by...
Hello Again and Thank you all for the heart warming Birthday Wishes recently.
I have ventured back to BYC as I normally do with yet another crazy coop story for interest, learning and likely mostly for laughs.
Well, I have 4 - 1 1/2 year old Gambel beauties. Two Boys and Two Girls. I also...
Forgive me for posting all over the place. Not used navigating this site all that well.
Looking for support of my 2 little Snowflakes. Having much difficulty maintaining humidity levels. Not an unusual problem to have to deal with in NW Florida. Especially at this time of the year. Never...
Hello Again, been a while. Wanted to take advantage of getting some Snowflakes while they're in season. I've never hatched this type of quail before, so just want to make sure I'm doing what I should be doing.
A total of 4 eggs came in the mail, but it appears only 2 are fertile, 24 hour...
I ain't no fool. Would you go sit on some cold egg all day when you can be held warm all cuddled up in a blankie.
Heck, for that matter, why even bother flying when I can be carried around everywhere too.
I'm a silver button quail. My name is Tiffany and I'm living up to my name. So there...
See the emergency thread I made for my female button:

Palpable egg with lethargy. Vent ripped with tissue disruption and blood. just tried massage of abdomen. Then warm water and massage. Nothings working. She can still be saved, but wont tolerate much more. Emergency. rural area. no vet accessable.
I‘m not real original with naming individuals. Seems I like naming them by their colors:
THIS IS CINNAMON
MALE- LOOKS PRETTY OBVIOUS.
Not named yet. Thinking if enough feathers come in reddish, might name him Rusty.
Wild Mutation?
Male
Not named yet.
Silver Pied?
Gender?
I hatched 9 buttons. While incubating I built them an indoor aviary. I just had an insulated, enclosed patio put on my house and wanted something aesthetically pleasing. The birds health and livelihood comes first. So I spent time searching for aviaries, but not much out there for the idea I...
Hello, I had an awful hatch a few weeks ago in which I had a disaster with temperature regulation. This resulted in several lost. Luckily there were not many in the incubator. Three week olds include: 1 Cotronix and 2 Buttons.
One of the buttons with splay and club foot. Tried all the...
Electric went out due to hurricane and expected to be out for some time. On day 17 of lockdown. So, with no warm bator and only one store bought egg with a chick inside to hatch, had to keep egg in my shirt....you know where as boobage cleavage is warm and when made delibrately humid, viola...
Bator: Little Giant
Temp: 100F
Humidity: 45-50%
Ambient: Good conditions and stable. No drafts.
My question is how is my air sac at the end of day 11?
Got lots of movement, good veining, but not sure if the air sac is good. Need help.
Well, I purchased 3 dozen Cotornix Quail eggs from the grocer and they're in a Little Giant bator now on day #7. Out of all of them: one embryo is noted tumblesaulting around, a perfect airsac and lovely red veining.
I am happy even one was fertile! Now the worrying for the remaining portion...
Earlier this season my sisters cat tore down several nests and found 2 eggs, but lost them since had no idea about hatching.
So in prep for next year just in case wanted to learn how to hatch and practiced on a carton of 12 quail eggs from grocery store. After proper technique followed by...
