Does anyone know the genetic code for black tailed buff marans? I thought it was wheaten but with CoCo, but then Bev Davis' website says it doesn't have the columbia gene, but does have the MhMh red gene. Also she said she got hers out of a wheaten to wheaten cross, so how could the parents...
I have this pullet that i hached from an egg that i got frow friends. He doesn't have purebreds (i think), exept for some leghorns. He has some roos and a bunch of hens, but one roo and one hen really catch my eye every time i see them. I'm very sure my pullet comes from these parents. They're...

Is there a way to make buff cuckoo marans? Because i can't seem to find one. For as far as i know you need the e^b e^b gene, which i don't think any marans variety carries. Is there anything i've missed?
I've been messing around with genetics (on paper) lately, and I don't think it's possible, but maybe I'm missing something: is it possible to make a 'breed' (not rlly a breed, more like a cross) that will breed true in olive egg colour? With no brown or blue coming from it? One that will breed...
Maybe this is a stupid question, but if, for example, i cross a wheaten araucana to a wheaten marans, will i get a wheaten olive egger? Or do the colours get mixed up? And for other crosses like splash cochin to splash araucana,...
I think it might be interesting to have wheaten olive eggers or such
I have this gorgeous blue copper marans pullet, which is perfect in every way, exept for one. I've noticed a few tiny white feathers on her head. I'm trying to get my marans as perfect as possible, so this is quite imporant to me. Is this allowed? And can it be easily worked away? I'm planning...
I know someone who breeds blue millefleur cochin bantams and i'm going to try and buy some of her next year when she starts breeding again. I was wondering, does this work like regular blue? I mean, will it throw regular millefleur and splash millefleur? I understand these are really quite rare...
Is it true that i'll get blue if i cross a splash roo to a wheaten hen?
I've got a splash marans roo and two wheaton marans hens and was planning on keeping them appart, but if this is true, and they can be considered pure color (no leakage), i'll just keep them together.
I've been playing around with color crosses on the site someone shared w/ me to see xhat some crosses I'd want to make with my cochins would look like. Now i've tried gold blacklaced roo x splash hen and it tells me i'll get 100% blue birds with black lacing? I've never seen or even heard of...
Does anyone know what the most purebred offspring you can breed with one roo?
Ex: blue, splash and black from 1 blue roo
Are there any colours in certain breeds that will give you more than 3 purebred colours from 1 roo?
So I have a trio of gold blacklaced cochins and I was wondering wether there's another cochin color which i can cross to the gold blacklaced, but still get pure color offspring of one or both of those colors?
Ex: blue marans x black marans= 50/50 pure black or blue
Hi guys, I'm new to byc and i have a question. You see, i have a trio of gold blacklaced cochin bantams and i also have a buff cochin bantam. All of which are purebred and pure in colour. What would i get if i crossed the buff hen to the gold blacklaced roo? And would i be able to tell the...
