Our 2 year old Buff Orpington can't stand. if she tries she just flops on her side. She was vaccinated as a chick. I gave her water with some electrolytes in it. I had to dunk her beak, to get her to take the water. She isn't interested in food, but I will try some soften with a little water...
My Ameraucana's vent is all pasty. It also looks like parts of the inside are out & all red. She's two. I've had pasty butts in chicks, but not a hen. I soaked her for 5 minutes and lightly wiped it with a wet cloth. I have a picture, but didn't want to post it unless asked. Any advice. She's...
We have a very aggressive EE. She is mounting chickens and pulling feathers out of other chickens heads. Three look terrible because of this. She also Crows regularly. (Yes she's a girl. She lays Olive colored eggs). So I put her in jail. She's been in her own pen on the opposite side of the...
I've read other threads on dislocated hips, but have a more specific question. I don't know what happened to my chicken. It could have been caught by a predator or it could have jumped from too high. One of my one year old hens wouldn't get up or put weight on her right leg (this happened in the...
I've tried to find the answer to this question, but haven't found it yet. Is a 7 week old rooster fertile. This is Kelp, he's Ameraucana & Leghorn mix. He found his voice last week at just under 6 weeks. Now he's 7 weeks and I've seen him mate our silky hen twice today. All the other hens are...
Our Silky, which is the bottom of the pecking order, went broody four days ago. Because of Covid 19 I can't get baby chicks, but I was able to get fertile eggs. So I put them under her. I have read a lot about caring for her for the next 21 days. She has access to water and food within reach and...
Another Newby question. My Celestial Blue Sexlink (Elsa) started laying on 1/21 she was 6 months old. For two weeks she laid almost every day. Then about a week and a half ago I found a broken egg under the roost that I though was hers. Since then she hasn't laid another egg. All the other...
Our county won’t allow roosters, so we had to get rid of ours last week. I’ve been letting the chickens (5 month old Pullets) free range the yard. However, since losing the rooster they just stand in a bunch in the center of the yard & don’t forage. I’m curious what’s going on.
Hello again,
Another question. My ten (3.5 month old) pullets have always been active and get very excited when I go near the run because I give them treats.
Yesterday I let them free range for several hours. After about 6 hours they had all gone into the run and were sitting on the ground...
This is my 2 month old Maran. I’m really feeling it’s a boy. Anyone sure yet?
I’m not allowed a rooster where I live so I need to start working on a new home if he is.
Thank you,
Owain
