Chickens seam lost without rooster

Our county won’t allow roosters, so we had to get rid of ours last week. I’ve been letting the chickens (5 month old Pullets) free range the yard. However, since losing the rooster they just stand in a bunch in the center of the yard & don’t forage. I’m curious what’s going on.

If they're used to having a rooster around it can take them a little bit to figure out how to act without one. Be patient and they'll figure it out in time.

Whenever flock dynamics change they will take time to adjust. One of their flock is missing, and they know it.

Thanks for all the replies, that's sort of what I was guessing. The rooster was so dominant in the flock. Also, no one reported the rooster. It's just once the rooster discovered his voice about a month ago, he started crowing all day long.
