Hi all,
I'm not sure when this happened, I haven't seen limping or acting odd or even blood.
We went for a hike yesterday, it could have happened then but he didn't show any signs of pain, he didn't have it Sunday night.
I don't think it bothers him unless he's trying to lay down or it...
I successfully started a cutting from my neighbors rosebushes, should I bring it in for the winter or let it go dormant outside? In full disclosure, it's not much warmer in the house but it typically doesn't freeze in the house.
Thanks!
Hi all, this is a little pullet I hatched out from my Double laced Silver Barnevelder and My splash laced red wyandotte hen, I'm curious as to what genetics are at play.
I'm idly hoping she molts into something similar to the wyandotte I found on pinterest.
Thank you.
Hi there,
Anything I post is showing up that I posted several (6) minutes more than when I posted it, and whenever I refresh the page, it shows the correct time for a second and changes to the wrong time.
Is this a problem on my end?
I have a recording that's being processed in the gallery, it...
The incubator I've been using turned off today after it reached 21 days, I got home to cold eggs and 1 pipped.
59 degrees f and 51% humidity.
It's been raining off and on today so I'm hoping the humidity didn't drop too far.
Why would you make an incubator that turns off on the hatch day?! And...
I've personally never waited that long to put my chicks outstanding, mine being out by 2-3 weeks. 3 being this year when it snowed unexpectedly.
I know that it's nice to have them full feathered but they feather in much slower indoors.
Mine are 5 weeks old, and roosting with the flock...
I have a Silver Barnevelder roo and standard Barnevelder hens, would I be correct in assuming I would get sex linked chicks, pullets being silver laced?
I also have Speckled Sussex, Splash Australorps and a single splash laced red wyandotte, would it also be correct to assume I'd get blue or...
Hens are on a healthy diet of all flock with a fist full of 15% scratch occasionally and melon rinds once a week.
A do have an older lady that had fly strike last fall, could this be from her?
No sign of lash or infection.
Please, just a little information for those who prefer to get their chicks through feed stores.
There's a lot of misinformation and assumptions that I'd like to dispel, and to request that treat your local feed store employees with a little bit more civilty.
With the current egg situation...
Just for fun, I've sent a DNA sample to the folks at wisdompanel, a company that does dna tests to determine ancestry of mutts.
They received it last week and breed results will be available with two weeks.
We got him from the pound, who advertised him as a German shepherd/ aussie/heeler mix.
We...
It's generally recommended to put marbles in the waterers base 'so the chicks don't drown'.. I, personally, have never used marbles or stones in my waterer and I've never had a drowned chick.
Out of Pure curiosity, how many do or don't do this?
Just curious.

Hi all, I've been looking at these birds for a few years, since I'm still learning about proper wyandotte shape and standards, I'd like second opinions.
Their body looks good to me but I'm concerned about the head shape. I know wyandotte are supposed to have short, curved beaks but these appear...
Hi all, unfortunately, I can't read music and have mixed a few practices due to weather.
Starting measure 48, I need the melody played up until measure 60, then the alto line to the end.
Or a online/app recording.
Pretty please!
Hi all, my poor hen has seeping wounds on her head from from my rooster, who has decided he suddenly hates her.
I didn't catch them right away do to my work schedule, I wasn't paying attention besides food and water and I'm hoping it's not too late.
Her face, neck and comb are puffy and bruised...
