    Loosing feed

    My four ladies waste so much feed and do not seem to pick it up from the ground once it’s there. Do I need a different kind of feeder? What kind would limit this problem!

    Again, what is best bedding for winter for the floor of the coop. I have pea gravel as base but need to cover it with a good insulating ?? Yes, they run free in run during the day , also still have problems with sleeping in the nests??

    No laying

    My ladies quit laying after a fox killed one of the five. I kept them in for several days and it seems the fox has moved away but they are very skittish. The one that was killed was Marge-in-charge. Any suggestions?

    Fox!!

    A grey fox just crossed the fence in daylight and ended the life of one of my five chickens 😩😩. They skulked and I went out and he was still right there in the area. He apparently jumped the fence. I got the other 4 insude their safe area and put the dead one inside my shed. About 1/2 hour later...

    Crisis!!!

    A fox just killed one of my lady birds. It left the ckn and ran when I got there. But just came back probably to reclaim it. What can I do? Not allowed to shoot in the city limits.

    Flyers

    I have introduced two new ones into my flock of three. After being kept in isolation inside the run for three days they are now showing off as to how high and wide they can fly. I’m seriously thinking of clipping their feathers to keep them inside the nice big run I have for them.

    Why are my hens eating their own eggs?

    I just now figured out that the reason my hens are not laying is now I’m finding shells near the main nests that the three like to lay in. One hen is sitting there most of the time.
