My three RIR were attacked yesterday in our yard by a stray dog. My daughter sent our dog out and chased him up the street, but we can't find one of the hens; the other two ended up back in the coop. Its been that sweltering heat and one of them must've had a bite of somekind, because we have...

our RIR were born in April...they're free range, but we feed them in the morning and evening. They don't seem to be eating. It has been very hot and humid and we're hoping for eggs soon. Do I need to be concerned?
I have two rhode island reds and one new hampshire red. I fill their feeder as I let them out mid morning. They free range my yard (approx. 1 acre with woods line) in the burbs all day. I fill the feeder again late afternoon and they will end up back in their coop at the end of the day and I...
My girls are about 5 - 7 weeks old. They just starting staying outside in the coop and free ranging most of the day. We've had a lot of rain and they've been getting plenty of worms, grass and goodies. They still seem to go crazy when I feed them and/or fill their feeder. How much feed...
I'm ready to put my girls outside...one could probably be as young as 5 weeks and the other 2 up to 7 weeks? What are the conditions for outside living?
thanks,

I picked up from Mt. Healthy Hatchery 2 rhode island reds and 1 new hamshire red that are supposed to be pullets. They are now about 6 - 8 weeks old and wondering what characteristics I can try to look for if we have any roos (we live in city and no roos allowed)
One of the rhode island reds...
We've just got a couple spring chicks from the feed store. We had two last spring and I can't seem to remember is we leave the light on all night or not?
thanks -
It seems that my hens seem to be wandering farther away from our yard now that we're in the midst of a drought. Is this because they are searching for healthy grass and softer soil or just because they are getting older?
I had two baby chickens from our 4th grade. It seems more and more that one of them is a rooster. Do you think I can still keep the one hen or will she be too lonely?
Thanks,
Each day, when I get home from school I let both of my chickens out in the yard. They almost always will go out into the grass/sun and lay on their side and spread out their wings. They usually look 'dead'?! They are both about 7 weeks old...I"m hoping at least one will be a pullet. Is this...
I kept 2 from my classroom 4H hatchings. These were the 2 smallest, but I think I have one pullet and one roo. I'm hoping the light red is a hen and thinking the brown one is a roo. I have no idea what kind, the brown one has changed and continues to change each day! I would appreciate any...
These are 2 of many kinds of eggs hatched in our 4th grade classroom with the help of 4H. They are 4 to 5 weeks old and were the smallest 2 of the bunch. It seems they change everyday! I'm new here and curious to hear what you all may think ~ let me know...
