Hello
I've been thru ascitis and calcium issues plus sour crop, possible mycoplasma .. i am stumped. My hen has been having this hunched over, hard rib area, recent squishy bottom, always dirty bum with neck stretches and some mouth breathing/gaping when i lift her. She's still very hungry...
My hen has been broody, but does get up every other day for a few min. She's very pale comb and waddles. She hatched a chick and when I lifted her up this image startled me. She's been my best mommy hen, about 4 yo now but loves hatching.
I love this girl so much.. what it wrong should I take...
Also do I treat the whole flock or just those with symptoms? I'm so sick over this. Had a healthy flock until I started adding adult hens from a farm but did have them in quarantine but apparently still too close
I recently added 3 hens to my flock. They have been in quarantine with the rooster that I bought the girls for. I've raised him and he's been waiting on a few of his own girls.
Anyway, 2 of the girls had pale combs, gasping, snorting, head shake, poor appetites, after a few days. I added...
i just buried one hen yesterday. I've lost 2 others in last 2 months and i know the water belly feel and symptoms. i can tell two more hens have it. one is still resting normally, walking around.. the other has one day left i just know it, if i can't resolve it.
i don't have pictures since...
my hen (my favorite girl) Turnip, has been sluggish, not eating or drinking much except when I put her on the mealworm tank but that was still just a few. She's slowly worsening since Monday (on day 5 now and I believe ruled out eggbound abd sour crop)
symptoms:
walking slowly as in a daze...
My hen weaned her chicks a week and a half ago. She has been free ranging with the flock during the day but seems to be a loner at night the past two nights. The first night I brought her in after the rooster calmed down (he's one of her favorites) and was up in the loft on his roosting bar but...
I read about sulfur being an excellent snake deterrent. I have a few small chicks, 6 weeks, and wanted to sprinkle some around the coop. I saw the crazy warning about toxic fumes and chance of fire. Coop obviously has lots of wood and shavings for bedding.. Anyone use this?
I added a pic
The 4 weaned chicks are doing well.
Question now on sexing these 5 week old babes.
Chick #1 looks like my Easter egger roo smaller but somewhat of a comb maybe it's the breed or is it too?
Chick#2 looks like my Wyandotte hens thinking pullets
Chick #3 runt Wyandotte
Pic #4 the two Isa /EE mix...
I have 5 week old chicks and suddenly this afternoon Mom just stopped paying attention to them, doesn't want to free range with them or sleep tonight with them in the nesting box as she has been. She been chasing them away not aggressively but still feel bad. There are 4 of them, very healthy...
My two hens have about 24 eggs between them.
They are a bit staggered and also include 4 duck eggs
Mom's have been faithfully on them.
I'm concerned as I've seen no pips.
Should I check them or leave mom's to their business?
Eggs are very warm, clean and so loved by these girls!! I give mom's...
This is my first time hatching. I didn't expect it my first year but I have 3 hens taking shifts on 2 nests.
The one definitely stays out except to eat and drink but the other one goes off the nest for extended breaks or free range time.
Question, what happens to the other hen aka 3 wheel...
I bought two news girls and are currently quarantining them in the smaller coop and run. They are socialization with my current flock through the fence and everyone seems interested and docile.
The person I got them from handled them not so gently and the one girl has a limp as a result, the...
I love my rooster Gertie (formerly was a hen I thought when named) he is an Easter egger and have had him since a chick. Him and his little sister have had daily handling. They used to love our mantle and we recently brought them back in to relax, which they loved. Gertie is now about 20 weeks...
