Okay, so I know lots of people worry about their flocks in the rain.
My flock seek shelter during heavy rains, but if it’s light, even steady, they love it.
They do have a warm and dry place to get out of the rain and the temps aren’t low.
These 100+ days and they are frolicking today...
I am so glad that I am not faced with such a situation as those who are evacuating because of the hurricane.
I’m pretty overwhelmed with emotion as I tend to worry too much.
If this is posted in the wrong place I apologize.
I know that they are on the roads, but what do people do when...

Today I noticed a majorly crooked toe on one of my girls.

I did mix some with their water, but...
So a little background.
My nephew (6) just couldn’t get any chickens To like him.
He is just too quick and forgets they startle easy.
In the last week, he started to catch grasshoppers and brings them to the girls.
Now he pays attention to going slow and to talk to them.
It’s really nice...
Flies in the coop.
It doesn’t seem to bother the chickens.
Does anyone use fly strips or anything?
the ceiling is about 6 feet.
I’d think the chickens would be curious and jump up to try it.
Some of them already do to get towards the climbing vines outside their space.
Any suggestions?
It’s been close to 100 degrees all day and we just got a rain shower out of nowhere. Cooled it off to the mid 80s and now the sun is back out and rain has stopped
All of my chickens went running around in the rain from their daytime shade spot.
Guess they needed a good cool off.
I have free rangers in my backyard.
I’m outside a lot and have hiding places for the birds.
I was inside for about an hour (Happened between 10a-11a) and came out to my girl dead on the ground and her head was missing.
No trail. Minimal blood where her body lay. Not many feathers.
Do hawks...
Me chicks are about 3 months old and free range during the day and go into pen at night.
I have them on medicated starter for their regular feed.
Do I need to be adding /offering grit?
Okay, SILKIE LOVERS, I have 3 Silkies in my mixed flock.
Their names were Shadow (black), Marble (partridge), & Buffy (white).
I’d like to rename Buffy, as he is clearly a rooster.
I can only come up with Johnny, as in Johnny Travolta.
Any suggestions from you Silkie fanatics (I’m a self...
I have a mixed flock of birds and recently one of my Dominiques started occasionally flying up to perch on my shoulder.
No warning, just suddenly she is there.
It doesn’t bother me, as she is balanced and will hop off if I nudge her.
I don’t want to start something that will begin to be a...

I’m brand new to the chicken world.
I have a mixed flock and I received 2 BLRW straight run chicks.
They are almost 3 months old.
