Good Morning All, I am looking for some input about temp flux and bird integration. I have done spring, summer, and fall integration with my flock successfully since starting with chickens. My question or concern is, how to do this now during harsh winter?
I am worried about going from warm...
I have 2 grampa's feeders and one of them keeps getting rodent poop inside resting on the top level of the feed, not down where birds are currently eating. I tried keeping brick on top of feeder but poop is still showing up. I am throwing out way to much feed because of this. Its not in my...

I am pretty sure my silkie is broody. She is staying in the nest box, otherwise looks normal, will eat and drink if I bring her out of the nest box. If I put her in a broody breaker, do I bring it inside or can I leave it in the garage with no heat? Temp will be in the teens at night here.
I am trying to identify what’s going on with one of my girls. I live in western ma, and we have had some really cold days/nights, single digits. Solid coop, covered run, but have had some free range time. I put leaves and chips down on top of snow in free range area, but I think 2 birds have...
I have 5 silkies straight run, 1 sexlink pullet from TSC, they are all roughly 8.5 weeks, this little red head is bigger than the others and is a real bully. I am thinking it’s a roo, I have tried separating big red for a few days but still bulllying, attacks almost everyone. This one has been a...
We are trying to finish our chicken setup and are wondering if putting a cement floor down in the 8x8 run is the best idea. The coop is 4x8x8. I have tons of fresh local woodchips mixed with leaves. Deep litter method is my goal. will having cement entail more frequent cleaning? We live in New...
I have some 3 weeks old Lavender Orpingtons trying to guess at the sex. 1/2 have longer tail features these have shorter tail feathers. Is the comb identifying factor at this age?
I have 2 sets of chicks in my basement, 5 Silkie & 1 black sexlink (5 weeks), and 10 lavendar Orpingtons (2 weeks). I have 2 big brooders attached to each other with screen between. These brooders are close to my rabbit condos. I am starting to worry that my rabbits are going to get sick from...

I live in the Berkshires so our winters will be cold and snowy.
