Anyways, I decided to crack open one from the EE hen after my sister brought some eggs to her school. Here is a pic:
Then here is a silkie egg pic that has a roo in with them.
Which one is fertile? Or are they both fertile?
I put my ameraucana cockerel, french maran hen and EE hen together on Saturday. So about 3 days ago. Been together for about 3 1/2 days. Do you think the eggs are fertile? I haven’t see anything but I don’t regularly watch them. I’ve gotten an egg on Sunday, Monday and Tuesday. Would any of them...
So I’ve been having a problem with my chickens. There are two diseases in my flock.
Disease one, AKA: Shrug Disease
Symptoms:
Looks like they are shrugging
Comes on really quick and kills them
Feel really light
Cold feet
Crop isn’t full but they eat/drink
Meds:
Tried Nutridrench, didn’t work...
I have a 6 week old splash cochin who has never been “right.” Her eye is always squinty but it doesn’t seem to both her. She was my only splash cochin pullet out of 4. So when I noticed she has bright green poop, I kinda freaked. Last time a cochin had bright green poop, he died. He was a 6...
A woman was giving away her Black Silkie “Hen” for free. So I drove and got her. This was about a month and a half ago give or take. The lady was very nice and said that the silkie was left her by her roommate and her roommate said it was a roo. She said the silkie was a year old, and she...
So, I just got a pretty cockerel. Hatch date: April 29th.
She said it was an Ameraucana. (she even spelled it right)
I asked how much, and she threw me off when she said $10. I almost literally jumped in my car and picked home up.
How does he look? Also, does he look pure?

@Amer
Somehow I zoomed in? It’s too close for comfort. I’m on mobile and tried to zoom out, but I can’t. Can someone help me fix it?
Picture attach for an example:
Hey! What are we thinking about this Jubilee Orpington Cockerel? He’s 5 month olds and really big. @Amer if you need better pictures please let me know. I’m not getting rid of him anytime soon, so I have time.
I’m so sorry, not good pictures, but I’m taking them to an auction tomorrow, so any advice, is good advice. @Amer

I’m in the process of cleaning it right now though.

I have two BLRW pullets.
I have one BLRW cockerel.
I have one SLRW cockerel.
I was thinking of getting two straight run SLRW, hoping for a pullet.
Is there a breeding chart for these mixes? Like if I do a
SBLW x SBLW or a BLRW x SBLW
Do father and mother matter with who is the splash and who...
I bought 4 straight run splash cochins. For awhile I thought 3/4 were cockerels, then I thought 2/4 were cockerels. Now i’m thinking this little guy is a cockerel again…
Here he is:
Here is his sister:
Here is one of his brothers:
Roo. Right?
So recently I realized that I had 246 points (aka 4 points away from crowing) and I looked at what I could do to raise it. I saw that I could “rate 5 pages” for 5 points. So I rated 5 articles. It’s been 3 days and still haven’t received the points. Am I doing it wrong?
Thanks for any help!
What are we thinking for these little guys? 4 weeks old. I know that’s pretty young, but on one of them feathers are coming in. I know dark brahmas are feather color sexable. I can’t remember which for which. Help is appreciated.
1st 3 pics are of BB
2nd 3 pics of YB
I hatched two peachicks out. They are 3 days old now. All they do is peck at each other’s eyes, beaks, wings, toes, pretty much everything! They started getting red under their eyes and blood on their beaks, so I had to separate them.
Will they die of loneliness?
What can I do to stop the pecking?
I am a TOTAL beginner. I know almost nothing about genetics, so I want a nice learning project for myself. If anyone has any ideas on a new chicken breed I could make, I’d love to here them. It will be probably 6 months - a year before I can get started because most of chickens don’t lay yet...
