I have a flock of 11 hens. The littlest hen is being singled out and picked on - the other hens chase her and peck at her. I want to separate her but only have one coop/run and coyotes are an issue where I am. She doesn't want to be separated from her flock. Any suggestions?
My handsome 1 1/2 year old roo might be in distress. He is acting normal, but his breathing is raspy. Could it be a respiratory infection and if so, opinions on treating? It's so dry these days I wonder how it could be respiratory, but sure sounds like something is going on with him.
I love this forum of chicken enthusiasts. I consider myself a newbie (4th year chicken keeper) and am not good at distinguishing Pullets from Cockerels. Can you help? Posting pictures.....
Hello- I picked up this pullet about 8 weeks ago. Any guesses on breed? She’s got quite a crest on her with puffy cheeks. The person selling her had no idea what she is. (She is a pullet, right?)
Hello! I have been a lurker for a few years, but registered so I can actually talk to chicken folk. I love my "ladies" (9). All different varieties, Americaunas, Olive Eggers, BC Marans, Cuckoo, Sussex and Orphingtons. My addiction is egg color.
I've had chickens for years and I've never had problems with coccidosis... I do start my chicks out on a medicated feed. They have plenty of room to roam. This spring I purchased a few pullets from another farm. I now have a real problem.
I have treated with Corid several times. Twice...
