We are having a bad ice storm, so I brought my two ducks in for the night. I was letting them swim in the bathtub when I guess they decided they were done and jumped out. As I was cleaning all the water they splashed all over the floor, I noticed my Pekin is bleeding from around what I think is...
My two dudes are roughly 21 weeks old, and I'd say maybe somewhere around weeks 12-16ish, my Pekin started doing this on occasion. It's probably the goofiest thing I've seen out of either of these guys since I brought them home from TSC. Any idea what he's communicating? 🤔
Good morning, BYC! Does anybody know what's happening here? My Rouen gets in my Pekin's face and sometimes even pushes the Pekin's head down (as seen at the end of the video) or just nips at the Pekin's mouth. He typically does this when the Pekin is squawking at me for whatever reason.
He (my...
I've been using this in my ducks' house:
--which has actually been my personal preference so far, (especially over pine shavings, which was a big goop of YUCK) but as you can see it's a little pricey. The privately owned farm store around the corner from me sells bales of straw for 5.50, so I...
Has anyone ever raised a pair of drakes by themselves? What was your experience? What should I expect?
For those that didn't follow my last thread, I've raised three ducks since they were somewhere around a week old. They turned out to be two drakes and a hen, so I rehomed the female to a great...
I'm ~assuming~ this is from molting, but my Rouen is my princess so I'm always extra paranoid if anything gets out of the ordinary for her. Just wanted to get opinions/clarification from more seasoned duck keepers than myself that this is normal!
Out of our three ducks, Zelda is the most loving towards us. Every night before I lock them in their house for bed, I sit in their yard and just spend time with them. Tonight, Zelda climbed right into my lap for snuggles. Ducks are so precious 🥺
My Black Swedish just randomly started doing this right now. Is it because I put fresh straw down and they keep burying their heads in it? What do I do?
I let my ducks out of their house this morning and noticed my Pekin's tail has a bit more curve to it than I am comfortable with. 😂 I never wanted unexpected babies so I'm concerned. Somebody please tell me this is not the beginning of a drake curl lol.
Is this the beginning stage of niacin deficiency?? She's pretty much been like this since I got her 4 weeks ago, and hasn't gotten worse or better. I do put brewer's yeast (I know, not the top choice for niacin supplement but I happened to have some leftover from when my son was breastfed) in...
Good evening everyone! I have three ducklings, two of which are almost 5 weeks old, and one that is a week younger than them. At this moment in time, I still have them in totes inside my house until I'm done constructing their house for outside. As you can imagine, they are starting to really...
Hi everybody! My name is Cait, and today marks exactly three weeks since I brought home my very first two ducklings from TSC. A week later I went back and got a third. It's been a lot more work than I anticipated, but also quite a bit of fun and definitely a huge learning experience. Turns out I...
