See the egg in the center? This chick is not zipping how it should. A significant part of its shell is off while the dry membrane remains. It probably pipped within the last 12 hours. Do I remove the top?
Chick pipped 30 hours ago. Began to zip last night and for 12 hours could only make a circle in her shell. In other words, no progress.
I began to assist by removing the cap. She pushed it off and now appears stuck as in the photo below.
she’s been chirping loudly all afternoon. We’ve seen her...
This chick pipped over 24 hours ago. Began zipping last night but no progress. It’s chirps are extremely loud and mature but it appears to not be able to get out. I’ve removed a bit of the outer cap. Should I keep going??
How can I tell if they’re cold and the plate is too high? When they’re standing, their heads are near the plate but I’m afraid if they lay down they’re too far from it. I’m using the TSC brooder plate/heater.
First time incubating. Just put my eggs in lockdown. I have several eggs that look like this. Is this a good sign? If you look real close you can see veins.
I am 12 days into incubating our first set of eggs. 3 of the four of them come up solid when candled, the fourth one remains see through with what appears to be a failed yoke on one side. I assume the three solid ones are hopefully growing chicks? I am candling them in a dark room with a candle...
I posted a picture yesterday and was surprised to see most said No. 2 is a Roo. I have a better picture today. These are 4 month olds.
Number 1 is a rooster correct? Number 2 a pullet?
Have a young 4 month old EE and I’m not sure if it’s a roo. It’s the one in the front of the pic with blonde neck feathers and potential blonde saddle feathers. Any opinions would be great. Thanks!
