Got this guy back in April as a half-fuzzed chick... didn't want...
I'm beginning to suspect that of the 5 Buckeyes we have, 4 of them may be roosters...
Please, someone tell me I'm wrong! The thing throwing me off the most is the difference in thier comb sizes and leg thicknesses (when they are all the same age)...
The one I am certain is a hen has NO green...
These chickens are about 3-4 months old (guessing)...
We got these six babies as Buckeyes, but one is darker than the rest (and I haven't seen or read anything about black Buckeyes...).
Ever since we got them, they have always stuck together - put them in a bin with 14 other babies the same...
We got the last six Buckeye babies at the feed store around Easter. We love them - never knew they existed before, but fell in love as soon as we saw them, and love them even more as they are growing! One is not the color of a Buckeye, though...
Here they are as babies...
And now...
These were straight run chicks we got from TSC around Easter... I think we have most, if not all, hens now.
Was told at TSC this one is a Black Rock? Could be right, but I don't have much faith in the fellow's knowledge, for other reasons...
My parents had several of these and couldn't ever...
Best I can come up with is splash Jersey Giant, suggested by someone on here... but can't find ANY photos that look like him... please share your thoughts!
This year is my first venture with chickens. We bought a couple dozen straight run chicks of unknown breeds.
One has stood out from the rest, though, in our opinion... I have never seen a chicken with blue legs!
They are fairly mature now - at least 3-5 months old.
This guy is a rooster -...
