Do I really need to calibrate a hygrometer? The salt test isn't working, it doesn't look like slush. I put a table spoon of salt and a teaspoon of water it doesn't look like slush, I added a little bit more water, should it be fine for calibration?

I found an article on the beginners guide to incubating and hatching ducks/chick's, it said the AcuRite hygrometer was the best one to buy. I was wondering if it would harm my eggs or ducklings once hatched if I were to use this hygrometer, because it's an indoor hygrometer?
