Hi!
I need some help with our chickens :)
We had a group of 5 1.5yo hens. We got 3 Faverolles and when they were 6-8 weeks old, we put them in a separate enclosure with the older chickens. We let them in there for a few weeks, maybe until 12 weeks? They were almost the same size when we opened...
I know I am a little early as these are only 5 weeks old but like everyone, I am curious!
These first 4 are Black Australorp.
My guess is #1-2 are roo, #3 pullet and #4 not sure.
The 2 orpington are maybe both pullet?
And then Cochin #1 and 2 are too and #3 a pullet?
What do you think this little one is?
After all the reading I read last night, I am thinking this one might be a pullet because the dot on its head it small and well defined.
I got these marans chicks and I don't know what is the name of their color. Can someone help?
They are 6 weeks in these pictures and I suspect them to be cockerel.
My main question is : can hens with possible worms and possible anemia (self diagnosis, haven't heard back from the vet yet) can recover? She does not feed herself (I am putting food in her beak for her), doesn't drink, sleeps all day. She can stand on her feet for short periods. Other than...
1) What type of bird , age and weight - Ameraucana, born sometimes in March, not laying yet
2) What is the behavior, exactly - Calmer than usual, doesn't go up to roost at night (can't seem to be able to jump), not stading as straight and tall as usual, her face is all wet from the water she...
My (not yet laying) Lavender Orpington seems to have an Impacted crop.
Yesterday afternoon, I noticed it was hanging very low, when I touched it, it felts very soft like full of liquid and I could hear gurgles. We gave her some olive oil and a massage.
This morning, it isn't as enlarged as...
Okay, here's my question. Something (probably a fox) killed our chickens a few nights ago. We have just one left (ameraucana).
We are getting 4 new hens and 1 rooster today from 2 different places (hens are together from one place, rooster from another place).
I am wondering how to introduce...
1. 12 weeks old Maran
2. He does not stand on his legs, seem to lose his balance and use his wings to help him not fall. His legs are sometimes resting kind of in front of him. He also opens his mouth like he's gasping for air.
3. I noticed he was on the floor last night and found him like this...
I am getting a few Ameraucana Wheatens today and they are 2 months old. When I asked if he was sure they would all be pullets, the person told me that this specific "color" of Ameraucana was easier to sex than others.
Is it true? Are there any specific things to look for to make sure?
We got 10...
I have been able to sex all my chicks except for these two. I would love some help! They are Blue Laced Red Wyandottes.
My guess is #1 is a rooster (he's missing some feather on the "tail" because he got picked on twice and bled and it was raw.
And this is chick #2 which I'm hoping is a pullet.
