Hi,
I placed some eggs in water only 5days after been laid and some of them floated to the top. Why would this happen, I understand if they are rotten but not after 5 days of being laid.

I use straw/hay at the moment but as soon as I place in the laying boxes the girls get in there and scratch it all out is there something else i could use so they don't scratch it all out. Sometimes they lay on the floor with the straw they have tossed out.
I have 3 Isa Brown chooks had them for 2 years and only get 2 eggs per day. I was getting 3 per day then about 3/4 months ago started only getting 2 is this normal or is one of the girls not laying??I live in Australia.
