    Adoption options

I had an escapee hen that I thought was snatched up by wildlife....until she popped up 2 weeks later broody. I've tried following her when I see her (I also have left out food and water during the day) but I've only managed to spot her twice and each time she ran off into the woods before I...

    Unplanned chicks

My broody hen managed to dupe me. I thought she was laying on some false eggs, didn't realize a couple of her flockmates snuck in and added a few live ones to the pile before they were way past the point where I'm comfortable "ending them". As another surprise, one hatched today. She is still...

    Getting the chicks i want.

I have little space and prefer variety. But most online places want me to get at minimum 3 per breed. Does anyone know of websites that sell variety options? I only have space for 3 maybe 4 chicks and I don't want it all to be one breed of bird.

    Adorably cute but concerning sneezes

My flock gots the sniffles. All of them, some of them have had it most of the winter, I'm putting acv in their water but haven't seen much improvement. What's most concerning is one of them was making a wheezing noise while drinking water. Any suggestions?

    Scaly Mites

Hello, pretty sure my chicken has scaly mites. The leg scales are definitely raised, I already had her quarantined for a different issue. I plan on dipping her in Epsom salt, then slathering some petroleum jelly on her legs. My question is... should I be doing anything with the coop? I've...

Might recognize me from my special needs chicken thread. I've gotten a lot of helpful tips from it and other articles I've been reading, just recently learned about bumble foot, but now that I'm looking... I noticed 2 different hens that like to balance on one foot at a time I thought nothing of...

Is this a problem? (Bald hen)

Just noticed one of my hens has a bald spot on the back of her head. I just rescued a rooster about a month ago. He is pretty chill older rooster, but I figure he is still figuring things out with the flock. At first he didn't even really mate with the hens, but now he feels more secure. I've...

I inherited my sister in laws obsession

I got my sister in laws coop when she moved. It's 5x6 ft (hen house) has a run attached (haven't measured that yet) but I free range them so they only ever use it when it rains. I was wondering what is my chicken limit? Internet says 12-15 but I wanted to be sure.
