Heard some commotion only to find a hawk pinning my chicken. Luckily I scared it away and now they’re in the run. She only has a few feathers plucked but zero injuries. My concern is, do hawks carry diseases? Should we not eat the eggs for awhile? I know she probably won’t lay eggs for a bit...
I’m trying to figure out what killed my chicken. They’re free range and we have 7 total and one just got killed. None of the others are injured. All it left was two piles of feathers and it left only the chicken leg with foot. The bone is wiped clean and no blood visible anywhere. What predator...
Noticed my chicken had a scab on a part of her leg that looks like a scale. It fell off and this is what it looks like now. Is this normal? She also had some weird black spots on her comb but it healed and went away.
So recently, my 22week old flock has started laying eggs. For the past two days, this chick had been going in and out of the nesting box like she’s getting ready to lay. Tonight, I count all them in the coop and I notice she seems constipated on the roosting bar. Then bam, an egg just drops...
I’ve had this rooster since it was a week old, along with 7 other hens. He is the only one that has a curled toe like this. Any idea on why it’s like this and is it a cause of concern?
I have a 4x6 coop with an 8x6 attached run, there is space under the coop as well so technically 12ft of run “ground space”. I have 10 6 week chickens right now, two of which are silkies (all pullets). Chicken math is real and I want 5 more but do you think that would be over crowding them...
Just picked up 5 new chickens, not sure of age but they’re probably 8-10 week old silkies. I have isolated the one with blood. This is what the blood looks like. It looks like a blood clot too. Can someone help me/give me tips on what to do? Another chicken had green poop as well… again, I just...
I just bought this silkie, not completely sure of the age. I’m thinking maybe 8 weeks old? Anyways, can you tell me if it is a rooster or hen? It does have some red in its comb
I have a 5 week old rooster that I was told is an olive egger. It needs to get rehomed since I only want hens. Here is a photo. I live just outside of Los Angeles, in the Woodland Hills area.
I went to a store and bought a couple chickens, was told two of them are cream Legbar and another Welbar. I can’t tell which is which and would like to know. Here’s it is at 5 weeks old and then as a baby chick (the one on left, black stripe down back) Also, it’s not a rooster right? First time...
Hi, first time chicken owner here. We got 8 chickens right now and this is the only one that has a red coloring to it’s comb already. It’s also supposed to be an olive Egger. About 5 weeks old. Any guesses?
