Just curious abt double yolkers
We've gotten 6 double yolked eggs in the last 23 days (so abt 3 weeks, about 2 double yolkers a week) I'm just curious why. Healthy girls? We only have 13 so it's pretty surprising! Thanks! -

shrubs for quail that give them cover + food ideas?
Specifically zone 4-6. I need a shrub to give quail some cover but dual purpose that grows edible fruit or something for them. We eat their eggs, so nothing that would be toxic to us. any ideas? -
quail chicks suddenly dying
Chicks suddenly dying. One chick seemed healthy, hatched 2 days ago, now is flopped over, is just limp when I pick it up, and can't stand anymore. One of the other chicks died this way. Is it an illness? is there anything we can do?- potatoyay

trouble with hatching
Every time we hatch quail eggs, we get a low hatch rate, 2 out of 12, 6 out of 18, 20/ 48. this last time, we got 20 chicks but 6 died? we don't have a super fancy incubator, but considering the fact that people make their own incubators I wouldn't assume it matters all that much. Quail suddenly stopped laying
We had finally fixed our quail ratio and brought it to 8 hens for 2males. We got 4 eggs a day, which then dropped to 3, then to 1, then they just stopped. Is it just because giving them artificial light in winter is unpredictable and may not work all the time? I don't see how it could be stress... -
How to remove the blood-iron taste in quail meat?
